The dawn broke over the Lan estate, a golden hue illuminating the nursery where Wei Wuxian sat quietly with his daughter.

Despite the warmth of the morning, a chill settled in Wei Wuxian's heart as he had given birth to an omega daughter, and now he faced the pressure of producing an alpha heir.

Lan Xichen’s voice broke through his thoughts, “Are you ready for today?”

Lan Xichen entered the room, his presence a comforting anchor amid the swirling emotions.

Wei Wuxian replied softly, looking down at their sleeping daughter, "We must do what is expected of us,”

The joy of motherhood was overshadowed by the looming task ahead.

In the kitchen, Jiang Yanli prepared breakfast, her heart heavy with envy when each time she saw Lan Xichen and Wei Wuxian together, a pang of jealousy pierced her.

Jiang Yanli had always been the devoted wife, yet now she felt like a shadow, constantly overshadowed by Wei Wuxian’s presence.

Jiang Yanli murmured to herself, stirring the soup. “I wish I was in Wei Wuxian's place and could give birth to my alpha husband's children. Why can’t I be the one who brings forth an heir? How long will I have to bear this pain in my heart seeing them both together? When will you please solve my problems? God, I am so tired of looking for love in my husband's eyes.”

Her husband, Lan Xichen, noticed her distress so he asks with concern etched on his face, “Yanli, what troubles you? It seems like your attention is somewhere else while cooking, that's why there is a slight smell of burning food.”

Jiang Yanli immediately snapped, but the bitterness seeped through, "It's nothing and anyway I'm surprised you're worried about me right now since all your attention is always on Wei Wuxian and his baby. Have you forgotten that you married me into this house and not anyone else?"

Lan Xichen doesn't like the sour words coming from Jiang Yanli's mouth at all, so he replies with a little irritation, "Your mother brought you into my life by lying and Wei Wuxian also got my life because of your mother, so it will be better if you don't complain to me. You should complain more about your mother than you do about me because she is the biggest reason for ruining your life. Anyway, if you are not happy in this house, then maybe you can leave me, but because of your stubbornness, you don't even leave me and always want to blame me. I don't like this hypocrisy of yours at all."

Later that afternoon, Lan Qiren summoned Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen to his study so the atmosphere was tense, laden with unspoken anxieties.

Lan Qiren began, his voice stern, “Your Daughter is a lovely child but we need an alpha heir. You must produce one, Wei Wuxian.”

The weight of his words struck Wei Wuxian like a cold wave, “I understand, Uncle. I will try my best.”

Lan Qiren retorted, his eyes narrowing, “Your best isn’t good enough. If you do not succeed this time, you will have to leave this house.”

The threat hung in the air, suffocating. Wei Wuxian felt his heart sink, “Uncle, I will try my best this time too and do anything to give birth to your alpha successor but whether the child will be omega, beta or alpha is not in my hands.”
