Author's Note: Hello! So, for those unaware, this is a rewritten version of the previous Beta version of this fanfic posted onto Wattpad and Ao3. You can still read those, (though I don't recommend it because it's not very good), however I'm doing this version because I wasn't proud of how the original turned out, so the beta remains without a conclusion. Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me through all of my burnout and stress!

Mutants. An evolved species of human that have mutated, developing extraordinary abilities. Some mutants try to use their gifts for good, while others use them for their own gain. People fear and hate mutants because they do not understand them, even though many mutants seek only to live ordinary lives. How does someone live an ordinary life with such an extraordinary existence? Are all mutants just destined to be monsters? Still doesn't explain how ABSOLUTELY @#$%ED UP MY LIFE IS!

Noise flooded the forested area. Blasts of light radiate from the cleared area that encased the large facility. The mutants were all in a panic as three looming mechanical figures blocked their exit. Behind all the costumed warriors, Jubilee stood, terrified and unprepared. She was wearing a pink t-shirt with a white cartoon cat in the center and blue shorts with two small gold earrings and her pink sunglasses on her head. Jubilee had absolutely no idea what she was facing as she ran around, dodging blast after blast from the robots, her unkempt hair becoming messier and filled with dirt.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE THINGS?!" she yelled.

"Careful!" Storm shouted to her. Jubilee looked up at Storm, who, in her mind, looked like a storm goddess from mythology. Her silver costume perfectly reflected the light from the lightning that surrounded her.

"WATCH OUT!" she heard Gambit yell. Upon hearing Gambit's yell, Jubilee turned around and witnessed a robot being knocked down... and it was falling towards her.

Jubilee screamed as she tried to get away. How did I get myself into this?

ONE DAY EARLIER

Small sparks flurried around Jubilee as the small crowd of people cheered. Smiling, she overheard the chatter: "How's she doin' that?" "Is she a mutant?" "Is she a mutant?" "Awesome!" The colorful lights illuminated the surrounding space, creating a firework effect that left people in awe, none of them understanding what she was doing.

I really can't do much with this, Jubilee thought, but I can at least make a quick buck.

"HEY! KID!" she heard a man shout.

"Shit." Jubilee muttered, seeing a cop walking towards her.

"You can't do that here!" The officer said.

Jubilee quickly put her gloves on and grabbed the bag she had placed on the floor that was full of money and bowed. "That's it for today, folks!" She sprinted away, the cop now chasing her.

"Get back here!" The officer yelled.

Jubilee ran past the various stores at the mall, ducking into a crowd and dipping past and squeezing through the droves of people. Coming through the other side, another cop was there. She tried to turn back, however the other cop was still chasing her, so she ran full speed at the other cop and slid under him, running towards the escalator and sliding down the side as people watched the scene unfold. Tripping on the way down, she ran out a back exit, laughing as she circled back around to the entrance of the mall and dove into a small shop, buying some food, arguing a bit with the cashier, and leaving quickly before anyone noticed. Idiots. Jubilee thought. This daily hustle I've got going on sucks, but it still beats foster care. I don't need anyone.
