"So let me get this straight," Jubilee said. "The X-Men are based in a big, futuristic school for mutants?"
"Yes." Beast said.
"And this Professor Xavier guy wants to create peace between humans and mutants, which is why he started this school in the first place?"
"Yes."
"And you are a scientist who has known him for years?"
"Yes."
"And the X-Men came across me by accident?"
"Yes."
"Okay. So why am I here?"
"Pardon?"
Jubilee stood up out of the hospital bed and straightened out her shirt. "I mean, you come across some random kid in a government facility and take her to a big house full of strangers without consent? I'm pretty sure that's just kidnapping, my friend."
Beast laughed. "You're not entirely wrong. But Psylocke was very adamant about bringing you here."
"Psylocke? The tall, purple-haired, British ninja lady? Why?"
"I'm not sure, but she seemed concerned about you."
Jubilee stayed silent, scratching at the bandages on her head. Beast tried asking if she was alright, but Jubilee brushed it off, confused at what he just said. Why was Psylocke concerned about her?
Jubilee overheard a man's voice cautioning, "Don't dwell on it for too long." She looked towards the entrance of the room and saw an older bald man in a floating rig. She figured that this must be the Professor, but stayed quiet and just stared at him.
"My name is Professor Charles Xavier." The man said. "It's nice to meet you, Jubilee."
"Sure. Nice to meet you, I guess," Jubilee said.
"I heard you helped destroy a sentinel. You have talent."
"Thanks..."
"This school is a safe place for people like us. I'm aware of your situation, so feel free to stay here as long as you like."
"Oh, cool. Where would I stay?" Jubilee asked.
"We have plenty of vacant rooms."
"Thanks. I'll just-"
"While I have you," the Professor began, "I would like to invite you to meet our teachers. Someone with a talent like yours should put it to use."
"'Put to use'?" Jubilee asked, smiling nervously. "That's an ominous way of putting it."
"What I mean is, you have a gift. You can use a gift like yours for the greater good if you learn how to use it properly. We can help you, if you agree to train to be an X-Man. Help other mutants. Make this world a better place for people like us. What do you say?"
Jubilee stood there, staring at the Professor uncomfortably. Was he seriously inviting her to learn how to be a superhero? It sounded cool, but it would be dangerous. It would mean working as a team alongside others, which Jubilee was nervous to do. Not to mention she wasn't really qualified to be a superhero. Jubilee wouldn't be alone anymore, that's true, but that was the part that scared her most, next to the fact that there would be a lot of dangers that came with it. And school? That definitely wasn't something she was good at, either. So Jubilee was just standing there, thinking about her answer. "Uh..."
--------------------
"She said no?" Psylocke asked.
The Professor nodded. "Her reasoning was that we apparently kidnapped her." Both Storm's team from the raid and Cyclops' team were all gathered in the living area, as well as Emma and Sean, all with their eyes on the Professor. All except Kitty, who was sitting on the couch, scrolling on her phone in one hand, and holding a bottle of whiskey in the other. They had all changed into their casual clothes, with the only thing that stood out being that Psylocke was still wearing her gloves, but she always wore them, so it was unsurprising.
