Disclaimer~ I do not own the maze runner, but if I did I would take out page 250 in the death cure.
Newt's POV
"What are you doing up here?" I demanded in my second in command voice. When I went into the maze to end it all I might not have been fazed to see anything else, but a bloody girl? That was not expected.
She turned around and looked at me with pleading eyes. "I-I was just umm- what are YOU doing up here?" She asked, turning this around on me.
"I asked first" I replied in a childish tone. "And, I asked second" She quipped.
"Okay, well, I sort of umm..." I began but the words got caught in my throat. "Wait a second, why are you here? You have no reason to be up here, about to jump off a maze wall. It's not like anyone ever gave you a reason. No one even talks to you... Oh! I didn't mean that. I mean, I did, just not like well the way I said it. It's just that-" Then she cut me off.
"You're right Newt. No one ever talks to me. Maybe that is my reason. Think about it." She said.
"So, what's your reason, hmm? Mr. Second in Command. Why would he ever have a reason to jump off a maze wall?" She asked.
"Maybe I'm more isolated than you would have guessed, Love." I replied to her.
"Alright, well. Peace out, Newt. It was nice finally getting to talk with the second in command. It's a shame that this will be my last conversation." She said sadly.
"Wait!" I exclaimed just in time, as she started to lean forwards and nearly jump off. She leaned back and stared at me with no expression in her eyes. "How about we climb down from here and we head back to the Glade, okay?" I asked. I know I wanted to jump but this innocent girl? There was no way I was going to let that happen.
Alright maybe it was a little more than that. Her hazel hair flowed down past her shoulders and I noticed her matching hazel eyes that glimmered in the golden morning sunlight. She was lovely. I just didn't realize how we wouldn't have noticed her earlier. I'm sure she got some attention as the greenie, but who knows how long she had been here.
"Who says I want to just climb down with you?" She asked with her eyes glistening with confusion.
"I did" I replied sternly, showing off the leader skills I've learned over the years.
"Whatever"I heard her grumble. "But, no matter how annoying you may be, I'm not leaving without you. Yeah, you heard me right. No jumping." She said. "Alright" I replied and she turned and started to make her way down the vine slowly towards the ground.
=+=+=+=
After the girl and I were safely on the ground, I realized I didn't know her name.
"So, whatever may your name be, mystery girl?" I asked.
Violet's POV
"Violet. Unlike anything about me." I answered. Honestly, friend, this kid was frustrating. I just wanted to end this endless torture and here he comes waltzing along and sweeps me up into his world and pulls me back to the glade.
"Why is that, Violet?" He asked. God! Again with the freaking questions.
"Look, if you wanted to interrogate me, why don't you get a lamp and set me up in the map room, eh?" I said sarcastically.
"Well, Miss Violet. You might be able to pull off beating Minho in a sass war if you keep that up." He replied.
"Maybe! I'll be sure to put that on my list of things to do before getting eaten by a griever!" I said enthusiastically.
