Disclaimer~ I don't usually own the maze runner, but when I do, I don't forget the bromances.
Violet's POV
I walked into the deadheads from where I was working with Clint and Jeff. I saw the dark skin toned boy sitting with Newt by a circle of trees and I shuffled to where they were sitting, the leaves crunching under me.
"You requested my presence, your majesty?" I said, trying to sound as sarcastic as possible. "Yeah okay. Have a seat, Violet." Alby said. "Right well, master Alby here already had a talk with me but he wants me here just so I could back your story up with facts" Newt said. I cut him a glare and he added a silent "Or something like that".
"So, Violet. I understand that you have been here for how long now? Three months? Maybe four?" Alby begins.
"Yeah, not a wonderful way to begin, your Highness. I've been here for a year and six months.
" I replied.
"Oh. Ummm sorry then. So a year and a half you've been here. Newt said you were very vague, saying that you were isolated and sad. I don't know. Mind going into greater detail?" Alby said.
"Well. You just partially answered your own question. You thought I had been here for three months? Possibly four. I have been here for a year and a half. A year and a half, nobody cared. Nobody showed it at least. Except Clint. Since you made me a med-jack like 17 months ago, Clint has been nothing but genuine towards me. I had always been so close to just ending it all. So close. But, this last week something happened that really sent me off the edge." I explained.
"And what happened, Vi? Is it alright if I call you that?" Alby asked. "Umm sure. That's fine. Only Clint called me that but then again, only Clint knows me well enough to make a nickname for me soo."
"Anyway, the new greenie? Will? He came up to me while I was working and pulled me into the deadheads. He kept babbling, telling me how I was worthless. How I had no right to be here with a job. That I belonged in the kitchen or as a slopper because I was a girl. And I believed him." I explained.
"I just didn't want to be here anymore. I didn't believe I could do it anymore. I didn't want to." I finished and looked up from my hands.
Newt's eyes were watery but Alby had hard eyes and a straight face. I didn't blame him. "I'm sorry, Alby."
"Why?" He asked.
"Well. I know you have the weight of the Glade on your shoulders and I'm sure this happening-" I said motioning towards Newt and I, "didn't help you much. I'm sorry"
"Awe, Vi. That's alright. I'm a leader for a reason. And I'm glad you didn't jump. If anything I should be the sorry one." He replied.
Newt had puppy dog eyes on looking as sad as could be.
"Alright, Vi. You should go take a rest. I'll talk to Clint and tell him to give you the rest of the day off." Newt said.
"Alright, thanks guys. I j-just sometimes t-thought I couldn't do i-it." I stuttered.
"We're here for you now Vi. Go get some rest" Alby said.
"Alright, see you around." I said and walked back to my hammock from the deadheads.
I flopped onto my hammock and stared up at the blossomed trees above me. Flowers were fluttering down, making contact with the green grass.
=+=+=+=
I glanced down at my watch and saw it was 7:13 and the gladers were celebrating the new greenie. Another bonfire. Another chance for the gladers to get drunk, except Newt. Newt almost always stayed sober or close to it.
I was sitting on a log in the deadheads while watching a group of the gladers lifted up their special concoctions in the air.
I turned my head to the side and saw a smaller group of gladers sitting down on a circle of logs, talking and laughing. I immediately noticed Newt was in the circle with some people I didn't recognize.
Newt saw me and stood up, beckoning me towards him and his buddies. "Hey, guys. This is Violet. Violet, this is Minho, Gally, Chuck, and of course, Alby." Newt said once I reached him.
"H-hi..." I stuttered. He pulled me to the side and said to me, "Don't worry. They don't know how we ended up meeting." He whispered before sitting down on a log and patting the seat next to him.
I shuffled my feet and sat down next to Newt on the log. I looked around and observed the Minho was pretty drunk, not extremely wasted, but close. I felt bad for the headache he was going to wake up to tomorrow.
Chuck looked way too young. Twelve or thirteen, tops. He didn't even have the concoction in his hands. Instead, he help a clear glass from Frypan's kitchen, containing water and some ice cubes.
Alby had a drink in his hand, but rather than chugging, he sipped it slowly, not getting drunk. Very responsible of him.
Now, Gally here. He was drinking his alcohol like it was a river of heaven. He was completely wasted. Oops. Feel bad for him tomorrow. He's not going to be able to work very well!
"Alright, well. We were just about to start a game of Truth or Dare. Glad you made it in time." Minho said, smirking. Oh lord.
This will most definitely be interesting.
AYYYYYY! I know it took me so long to update, but I finally did and here it is. I have school now so it will be more difficult to update, but it will be happening so get ready. Thanks for reading!
