Navia smiled as she had just submitted her last assignment for the day. She was so happy that she could finally relax and take a break.
They'd only been in school for three months and to say that she was getting her butt kicked was an understatement.
Not to mention one of professors was extremely annoying and talkative. He talked the whole class period and then expected them to have the work done by the next time they came into the class.
But luckily for her she had her friends Jana and Hazel in her class, so it made it a little bit better. Still, cultural activities was not her favorite class at all.
Navia honestly couldn't wait to be done with college and have her dream job which was being a marine biologist. Ever since she was little, she wanted to become one. Her love for sea animals was unmatched.
Her Biological Oceanography and Integrative Oceans classes were probably her favorite. Her English class was also something she really enjoyed. Navia had always considered herself to be good in the subject, since she always got good grades in whatever they did in that subject.
She also couldn't wait to take Zoology next year. The girl caught herself smiling thinking about her classes and future.
Her perfect thoughts were soon ruined by the knock on her door. "Come in!" She yelled, shifting her attention onto the door and the person behind it.
Athena opened the door with a big grin spread across her face. "What?" Athena couldn't help but jump onto Navia's bed and sit infront of her best friend.
"Guess who's not failing anymoreeee." She sung, cheesing like she had just got the last piece of cake. "Good job Thena!" Navia said while high-fiving the girl infront of her.
"I know! Paige helped me with some of my assignments."
Naivia quirked her eyebrow. Athena took notice and rolled her eyes, "Girl, don't even." Navia laughed and shrugged her shoulders "I didn't say anything!"
Athena got up from her spot on the bed, "Yea, but I know you so mm mm no." Athena's copper brown curls bounced in the ponytail they were in as she walked out of Navia's room. Navia got up from her bed, grabbing her phone off her comforter.
She wandered into her living room seeing Athena searching for something in her purse. "Oh! We're going somewhere tonight." Athena said, hand retreating from the bag, holding a strawberry flavored chapstick. Navia's face scrunched up with confusion. "Who said I was available tonight?"
Athena's eyes rolled as she put her hand on her hip. "I did. You don't have anything to do so we're going to a basketball game tonight."
The other girl sighed, knowing that she had no way out of this. "Whose game is it?"
"Ours, we're going to the girls game against Florida I think." Athena turned on her heels, looking back over her shoulder, "You should probably go get ready cause it starts at three-thirty." Navia's eyes almost bulged out her head as she looked at the time. It was two-fifteen and they needed to be at the game by three-twenty because the lines were gonna be long.
She immediately left the living room and went into her closet. She found a simple pair of jeans then found a cropped UCONN shirt in her drawer. Navia threw her outfit on before going to the bathroom. She took off her scrunchie, looking at the mane on her head that needed to be tamed.
Realizing she wanted to play music, she exited the bathroom and went to grab her iPad. Once she had successfully grabbed her device, she trialed back to the bathroom. Turning up the volume on her Bluetooth speaker, she was now ready to begin doing her hair.
She opted for a simple slick ponytail. She used her spray bottle to freshen up her curls. Next she applied two coats of mascara. After finishing everything she needed to do n the bathroom, Navia left out and went to go look for a pair of shoes to wear.
She was stuck between two options, "THEA!" She yelled, looking into the full body mirror. Athena walked in dressed in a UCONN hoodie and skirt. "Yes?"
Navia stared at her befriend through the mirror, "Which ones should I wear?" The copper brown haired girl stayed quiet for a second, thinking about how to answer the question she was asked. "Wear the left ones."
"Okay yea, I was kinda leaning towards them too."
🫧
"Alrighty! We're here!" Athena voiced, unbuckling her seatbelt. Navia then followed suit, unbuckling herself also.
The two ecstatic girls hopped out the car and ventured towards the Gampel Pavilion. They stood in line, waiting to scan their tickets and enter. The lines were a tad bit long considering the game was about to start in a few minutes.
Once they were in, they went to get some food for the game. As they were in line, Athena checked the time, frowning at what she saw. "I wanted to see their intros."
Navia looked over at her best friend who was holding up her phone. She saw the time was three-twenty five. "Maybe the line will go faster."
"I doubt it." The girl said, facing forward with a pout in her face.
Just as Navia said, the line started moving a bit faster. They were able to make it to their seats just as the UCONN announcer was announcing the opposing teams starting five.
Athena was able to score close seats. They were five rows away from the court. "I'm so excited! I'm glad you came with me."
Navia turned and looked at her friend, "It's not like I had a choice!" She emphasized. Athena nudged Navia's shoulder before focusing back on the introductions infront of her.
Navia noticed that her best friend became increasingly loud and started recording when a certain girl named Paige Bueckers was announced. Navia noticed that Athena only clapped when the other girls on their team were called out.
She made a mental note to tease her about that later.
