Chapter 70: Closer

"What do you think you're doing?", "Well, I wanna know what's going out there.", "Trust me. You don't.", "I got trust issues.", she said, as she opened the handle, and got out. Stone got out, and before Kate could see anything, he grabbed her wrist and led her back to the car. "Who do you think you are, my dad?" she asked as she freed herself.

"You can't talk to me like that.", "I think I can, and I know I can, and I will!", she said, holding her wrist. Stone saw a red mark on her wrist. He was sure he was not the cause of the mark. "Who did that?", Stone pointed to the mark. "Uhm, hello? You literally just grabbed my wrist! YOU did it of course!", "It's a scratch mark, not a hand mark.", said Stone, as he saw Kate's face filling with slight nervousness.

"Kate... Who did that?", he asked again. "I... I scratched myself by mistake...", she said nervously, which made Stone more suspicious. "I don't believe you.", he said, as he came closer, which made Kate even more nervous. "W-What're you doing?", Stone scanned the area using his brain, and there were very less people around, and so...

He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer! Her hands fell on his jacket, and she tightened her grip out of nervousness. "Stone...", "Just tell me the truth." That is the truth; I scratched myself by... Mistake..." Stone grabbed her wrist again and examined the scratch. Meanwhile, Kate looked at Stone, and he looked even better up close—better than usual. He was always good-looking, but he looked even better today...

"Stone, believe me. I...", "Shh!", Stone shushed her, as he put his fingers on her lips. All the drama made Kate feel uneasy and unstable. She could feel the liquid in her knees drying because her knees were going weak. Then suddenly, she lost her balance, bent a little, and put her head on Stone's jacket. "Kate?", "I'm fine, I'm...", her grip was still tight. "I just...", she sighed, and looked up again, as she rubbed her eyes.

"I just feel unstable... I'm just tired... That's all...", "Are you sure that's all?", asked Stone as he leaned in. She put her head on Stone's jacket again, and Stone scoffed and smiled at the same time. Just as she was catching her breath, Stone lifted her! He put her in the back seat of the car and leaned in again.

"Stone I'm fine!", "I was just getting the seat belt.", he said, as he put on her seat belt. She turned red, and Stone brushed a strand of her hair. Her eyes blinked slowly and closed. She knew something was about to happen. Stone leaned in again, and then...

Kate's phone rang, and that startled Kate and she bumped her head against Stone's. "Ow!", "I'm sorry!", said Kate. "Did you get hurt?", "Is your name Stone because of your head?", she asked, as Stone went back to his 'Soren' self and scoffed, and Kate rubbed her head.

She picked the call up. "Hey Caleb, did you reach home yet?", "Yeah, I reached 10 minutes after you guys dropped me off. I'm calling right now, because I fell asleep for 15 minutes...", "Oh, no problem. We're only 30 minutes away from Manhattan.", "LOWER... Manhattan.", "Same thing. Anyway, I'll call you when I get home. Bye!",, She cut the call. "Did he reach his apartment?", "Yes.", she said, as she sighed and massaged her head. "Headache?", "I just... Well, kinda... Besides, I don't think you care anyway.", she closed her eyes and slept again.

"Is there any way I can help?", "Yeah...", "What is it?", Stone asked as he looked at the rearview mirror, and found Kate giving him a death stare. "What do you want?", "I want you...", Stone turned to her with a VERY surprised and shocked look. "To shut up and mind your own business.", she added. Stone scoffed sarcastically. He turned his eyes towards the road and drove faster.
