Chapter 68: Get Some Sleep

The two headed outside and found Stone setting up blueprints on the table. "There is a very important and very sudden change of plans. We're all changing places and getting jobs to go undercover. You only have one day to decide your job and destination. Make sure you two select someplace slightly near each other because I have something that belongs to Oliver.", "What is it?", "It's a pendant, which belongs to him, and I broke it into four pieces. One of the pieces is with Cody and Steve, and they're keeping it safe. I'll be taking care of one, and you two will each have one.", said Stone.

"What does the pendant do? Is it like, a power source for Oliver?", asked Kate, "Yes, it is. It has astatine; a scarce element, which gives excessive powers to him.", said Stone, as Caleb and Kate looked at each other, with the same question in mind. "Is there any element that supplies excessive power to US?", asked Caleb, as Stone looked at him with no expression.

"Is there?", asked Kate, "There is.", "What is it?", "Can't tell. It could give you the powers you can never imagine. It's very dangerous too.", "Well, our middle name IS dangerous. So... What is it?", "Not telling you-", "Dang it!", Caleb sighed. "Anyways. You better start your research immediately if you want to survive the 'job' hunt. It would be tough to get a job at the destination you chose.", "Can we interact with people?", asked Kate, "No. You cannot.", said Stone, as he left for his tent.

"Where's the fun part then?", said Kate, as she went to her tent, and Caleb went to his. The two researched all day and finally found out what job they could take over. "You up?", asked Caleb, as he peeked through Kate's tent. He found her sitting on the floor, with a small wooden table opened in front of her. On top of the table, was her laptop, her phone, and her hand, for supporting her head. "Kate?", Caleb called out. She didn't respond but just flinched.

"Are you sleeping?", "Hmm...", she moaned. "I guess you are...", Caleb walked up to her, with a smile on his face. He looked at Kate, who was sleeping. Although her hand supported her head, it kept falling. "Look at you, all sleepy.", Caleb smiled and brushed a strand of her hair. He gazed at her face and caressed her cheek. Kate's hand slipped again, and this time, she fell on Caleb. Caleb looked at her and put his hand on her head.

She slept peacefully, and Caleb patted her head. He lifted her and tucked her into bed. Just as he was about to leave, Kate grabbed his hand. He turned to see that Kate was asleep but yet grabbed his hand. "Don't go...", she said softly, as Caleb came near her. "Hey... We need to wake up early tomorrow. It would be best if you got some sleep too. Or you'll be all drowsy tomorrow.", "I don't care...", she said, as Caleb laughed softly.

He held her hand, closed his eyes, and leaned in. Then suddenly, Kate opened her eyes! "What're you doing?", she asked softly, and her words made Caleb come to his senses. "Oh, I uhm... You uh...", he started stuttering. "You grabbed my hand while sleeping, and I uh... I tucked you to bed! Yeah and... Uh... I was just leaving-", "Leaving or... Leaning?", she asked as Caled felt her cold hands on his face. "I...", he got up quickly. "Good night.", he said, as he left. "He's such a Silly Bean-", she realized, that she had just kept a pet name for Caleb. "Silly Bean huh? Sounds cute.", she said, as she fell asleep.

The next morning, Caleb and Kate reported to Stone, about their jobs, and the three set off for their destinations. "It would be a long journey, so buckle up. It would take hours for us to reach there.", said Stone. "Fine by me; I'm planning to sleep the entire journey.", "You can't do that. We have to plan our whereabouts and our next steps.", said Stone as he drove.
