Chapter—3
Engagement

Tawakkaltu ala Allah.

Sitting on her vanity chair, gazing at the mirror, she pep talks to herself. Trying to remind herself that Allah is with her and his plan is always perfect.

Everything you are going through will be worth it in the end, it's all in the best of timings so have strong faith and be patient.

She recalled Zainab’s words. She has been a good support after her brutal divorce and stayed by her side. Spending many nights with her, calling her over to her place to distract her mind and taking her out for fresh air.

This way, she felt she would repay her back. By taking good care of her kids.

Seema came inside the room. “I don't understand why you are thinking so much?” Seema uttered, feeling sad.  “They have expressed their interest in you, they have seen you many times and Nikah isn't until a month.”

It was her engagement today. It wasn't exactly engagement but Mustafa and his parents are coming over to talk about marriage date, mehr and as per sunnah, let Mustafa take a glance at Madiha.

Madiha was super nervous. She had vomited twice since morning and feels like she will pass out but all the consolation from family was keeping her conscious.

“Enough, Seema!” She half yelled. “You haven't faced what I had so you wouldn't understand.” Madiha's words caught her off guard. The attitude she has developed after divorce, Madiha hated it but she easily got triggered and couldn't control herself.

“I didn't mean it that way, Madiha. All I am trying to—”

“Don't try. Keep your advice and opinion to yourself.”

“Madiha!” Seema's mother exclaimed, shocked by her behavior. Seema was used to her behavior because of which she was calm yet a bit hurt but she didn't let it show on her face.

“Seema,” Farzana phuphu called her daughter. “Go out.”

“But ammi, I didn't do anything.” She glared at her daughter. She sighed and walked out.

Madiha sat down on her bed and took deep breaths, trying to control her anger. Soon, Farzana sat beside her and held her hand.

“I am sorry. I am trying yet negative thoughts keep crawling into me because of which I react irrationally.”

“It is normal, in the end we are human and Allah has given us emotions. But keep reminding yourself of all his miracles and his powers, Madiha.” Her mother rushed in, slightly scared.

“I fear that my Imaan, my faith in Allah might decrease. I fear that I might hurt people by my words. I fear so many things.”

“Dua. Even if the whole world starts talking about the significance of a dua, I think it will still be underrated. Because the amount of power a dua has, it can't be enough to talk about its importance.”

“Exactly.” Her mother said. “A dua can do wonders, it can move mountains, it can split the sea in half, it can save you from a dark pit, it can get you out of a whale's mouth and keep you safe in fire.”
