Vanessa's hands trembled as she unlocked the door to her trailer. The memory of JJ's accident still fresh in her mind, the unsettling feeling that Nico was behind it all gnawed at her. She felt exposed, vulnerable—no longer safe even in her own space.

Rafe had been right. She couldn't shake the thought that Nico was lurking, watching, waiting to strike again. Her chest tightened with the knowledge that this wasn't over, and she knew she couldn't ignore it any longer.

Tomorrow, she would have to go to the police, despite her fears. She couldn't let anyone else get hurt because of her.

She stepped into her bedroom, the familiar sight of her unmade bed offering a brief moment of comfort, but something was off. On top of the rumpled sheets was an envelope. Her heart stuttered in her chest.

It hadn't been there when she left.

Slowly, she approached the bed and picked up the envelope, her pulse quickening as she opened it. The letter inside was scrawled in jagged handwriting, the words sending a bolt of fear straight to her core.

"𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐧,𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐬, 𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡."

Vanessa's breath caught in her throat. She dropped the letter, backing away from it like it was a bomb about to explode.

He had been here.

Nico had been inside her home, her sanctuary. The place where she was supposed to be safe.

Her hands shook as she grabbed her phone, barely able to swipe it open before dialing Rafe's number. The phone rang once, twice, before he picked up.

"𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚?" Rafe's voice was filled with concern, immediately sensing something was wrong.

"Rafe, I need you to come over. Right now," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, her words trembling with fear. "Please. I'm scared. Nico... he left a letter."

"𝐈,𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐲," Rafe said without hesitation. His voice was calm, but Vanessa could hear the urgency beneath it. "𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬."

She hung up, her heart racing as she paced the room, unable to sit still. Her mind raced with questions. How had Nico gotten in? How long had he been watching her? And why had he left the letter now?

The minutes felt like hours until she heard a knock at the door. She rushed to it, checking through the window before quickly unlocking it. Rafe stepped inside, his eyes scanning her face, immediately reading the fear etched into her expression.
