Back in the early 1930s during the rise of hitler the Germans had discovered a series of ancient portals on their quest for mythical items. These portals were then activated by the Germans shortly after being discovered. The portals lead to another planet which we now call "Kalimaria" (this name originated from the aliens own languages that was used to describe their planet). The race of beings were anthro creatures which most which jokingly call "furries" while officially they were called "Kalimari." After being discovered by the Germans they realized that this was not the first time our species has enteracted throughout history. Evidence lead to suggest that the most recent interaction between our species was around the time of the British colonies as some of the anthro creatures could even speak an older version of English and many other languages from around the world to include Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and some Germanic languages. They even had muskets and cannons from that time period as well. During the war the Germans would go on to do what they did to many and slaughter and imprison the beings as they saw them as an inferior race. With their superior technology at the time they stood no chance. After the war the United States and other countries like Russia and the UK sought to make friendly relations with the species and assist them after what the Nazi war machine had done to them. This is how we got to today with both societies being intertwined as tight as if they were just another country and culture from our world. Of course we were able to crack the portal technology and make more of them but that was about as far as that technology would go as it was made for a very specific purpose. With transportation between the two planets as easy as going to an airport and walking through a portal/terminal the relations between the two worlds grew to be a very close and friendly one. However this did not come without its problems...
