6 Years Ago:
2023, Kalimaria, Sarachi Province. 1830 hrs.
I sent as much hate down range as I could from the M134. The Blackhawk helicopter Tilted to the right and that allowed me to get more rounds on target. I could just a couple hundred meters behind the enemy I could see the 4 small figures that were the Delta Force operators we had come to save. They were in full retreat and were bounding their way away from the enemy and towards the LZ.
The helicopter suddenly took and sharp bank to the left and upwards cutting off my view of the enemy and the Delta Operators.
"We don't have much time we have to land NOW!" I said to the pilots over the intercom. I was the senior crew chief of this bird and I was not only responsible for helping out the pilots, but helping out the guys one the ground as well.
"30 seconds till touchdown." I heard the copilot say.
The helicopter took another sharp nose upwards as the helicopter bled off airspeed and we came down and smoothly kissed the ground. Even in the WORST situations these pilots were the best of the best.
Once the bird was on the ground I got off the Minigun and picked up an M4 that was secured to the back of the crewcheif seat. I then moved to the door and opened it. The Delta Operators were still about 50 yards from the helicopter. Behind them they were being pursued by several Kalimarian soldiers of various kinds. I raised my rifle and fired to the left and behind the Delta Operators doing my best to keep their pursuers heads down. I managed to tag a Tiger in the face and his head went from a nice orange and white striped pattern to a bright red. Behind that guy I managed to hit a wolf in his shoulder and it spun him around and knocked him on the ground. I managed to hit a couple more of the anthro soldiers before the Delta Operators began piling into the bird.
Once the last of the Delta boys were on I gave the okay to the pilots to take off. The bird lifted off the ground and began gaining altitude at an incredible speed. Bullets were flying past the helicopter and hitting it in various parts of the skin of the aircraft. I began climbing my way back to the right side M134. A round suddenly wizzed past me right in next to the gun as I reached for it and by pure reflex I pulled my hand away and began falling backwards. I caught myself on the window frame and pulled myself back up to the gun. I grabbed the handgrips of the weapon and looked down at the desert floor and began firing at anything that remotely resembled a humanoid target. The Delta operators were firing from out the side of the helicopter the best they could.
The Blackhawk helicopter flew over the side of a mountain and out of the way of storm of bullets. I let out a sigh of relief as the bullets stopped coming.
"Is everything okay up there chief?" I said to the pilot over the intercom.
"Affirm still gut full range of motion in the sticks and pedals with no binding." The pilot responded.
I looked back into the cabin at the Delta operators and saw the look of relief on their faces as they slumped into the chairs of the helicopter. One of them gave me a thumbs up and smiled at me. I smiled back at him. He looked down outside of helicopter and his expression quickly changed from that of relief to a sudden frown and then I saw realization hit him. He began to scream at the top of his lungs and I could only barely pick up the muffled sound of him screaming "RPG" as the warhead of the rocket smashed into the tail section of the helicopter and exploded...
The helicopter plummeted towards the ground and went into an uncontrollable spin. I could hear the pilots yelling something over the radio but I couldn't make out what it was. I was too busy getting thrown around the cabin as the helicopter fell out of the sky. My head smashed into the floor and the lights in my head went out...
