You stared at the little girl for a good five minutes, blinking every second or so. Were you hallucinating? Alice seemed to notice her too.
"Mommy?"
Alice looked at you, confused. She made a new friend! Shouldn't you be happy for her? Why was mommy looking at her like that?
"Are.. Are you okay..?!"
You finally snapped from your thoughts. The girl was clearly injured. The brunette smiled at her.
"I'm fine! Don't worry, mrs... Uh... "
"(L/n)"
Alice added. She tugged at the taller girl's hand.
"C'mon! Tell my mom your name"
The girl smiled at you. Her green eyes meeting your (e/c) ones. She reached her hand out to the woman.
"Hello! My name is sally!"
You shook her hand. It was cold. Unnaturally cold. Judging by the blood and cold temperatures, she was definitely a ghost. The real estate agent never mentioned anyone dying in the house. Damn, you would've asked for a discount if you knew.
"It's nice to meet you, sally. How.. Did you get here?"
You weren't lying if you said you weren't curious. If she was really a ghost, she was so.. Young. You couldn't imagine what she would've gone through to die at that age, especially with that munch injury and bleeding.
"I let her in"
Alice spoke up. She became all giddy and jumping up and down, a small habit when she's happy.
"Remember when i told you yesterday that that i felt something watching me- and i wanted to friend whoever it was??? Remember??"
You only nodded as she talk.
"Then i saw something out the window last night-! It looked like a person so i went down! Then the door was locked, but i don't wanna break it- i wanna gave up, but! When i was boutta head up.. I met sally!"
She was all smiles and giggles, excited to finally have a new friend. The sofa was littered with pillows and blankets from her bedroom. How did she even get them down without you knowing?
"So she can stay right, mommy??"
"Please!! Mrs. (L/n)!! "
The two kids tugged at your pyjamas. You were still in a bit of a daze, and half asleep too. Slowly nodding at the two kids, they then went back into the mess they call a pillow fort. You headed back into the kitchen to make them a meal.
Can ghosts even eat? You didn't know for sure. You made three servings just in case. Pulling out the pancake mix from the cupboard and strawberries from the fridge.
The two kids sat across from each other. Alice stared at Sally. They both had matching red teacups in their hands. The blanket 'door' opened a couple minutes later, revealing your frame.
"Breakfast is ready"
You gave the girls a smile. Alice grabbed Sally's hand and practically dragged her to the dining room with you trailing behind them. Sally took a seat next to Alice. Somehow, despite all the blood, not a single drop stained your floor. You were grateful for that.
You put a plate in front of the ghost girl, which she happily ate. So ghosts can eat, apparently. You went back into the kitchen, glancing at the girls every now and then.
You still didn't know how or why Sally was here. But as long as Alice is happy, and Sally isn't causing trouble, i guess it's fine. It's not like she was here to harm them, right?

You stared at the sun. It was way past noon now. The girls were currently playing in the small garden you had made for Alice. Your daughter was currently teaching Sally how to plant seeds.
You sat on the porch, a book laying on your thigh. It was just a simple romance book, nothing special. The writing and scenes were really good and it got you hooked. Maybe a bit lonely as well. Your mind wandered a bit about you and-
Alice falling snapped you from your thoughts. God, you had such a clumsy daughter. Not that you're any different. Alice wasn't crying, she was laughing as Sally pulled her up.
You sighed as you grabbed the spare bandaids and cotton pads from your pocket.
"Does it hurt anywhere?"
Alice shook her head as you cleaned the cuts on her arm and put hello kitty bandaids on it. Sally glanced at you.
"Is Ally always like this? She kept falling over a lot"
Alice turned to her.
"It's because i was once a mermaid and just gained legs! Of course I fall a lot!"
She held her head up high. Luckily the cut wasn't deep or anything. Sally gleamed at her words. Both seemed to be caught up in a world of their own.
Your chest felt warm as your lips twitched upwards. Alice made her first friend here, even if it was a ghost. At least she wouldn't be lonely anymore.
You still remembered the first day you two moved in. She mostly talked to her dolls or the mirror. She was still talkative, just not as she was before. It was like her world had turned grey as soon as you moved.
A breathy sigh left your lips. She was happy, and that's all that matters. Your eyes went to Sally.
"Would you like to stay for the night?"

Sally was missing. She had went out with one of the pastas earlier but they lost sight of her. They didn't know where she went nor why she suddenly left. In their eyes she was still a child, despite technically being older than some of them.
The dark haired man walked through the forest in search of her. She wasn't there but the could still feel her presence linger. Upon going forward, a neighborhood near the edge caught his eyes. He could feel her presence in a specific house.
Perhaps Sally had found a new victim. But due to the time she had been gone, it was unlikely. The man approached the house, easily hopping over the fence.

You yawned as you walked back downstairs. You had finally managed to put the girls to bed. It was way earlier than usual, but that was because Alice had stayed up way past her bedtime. She was still a growing girl and needed rest.
You went off to turn the lights in each room. You went to the kitchen and was about to flick the lights off before you were pinned to the ground.
"Ack-!"
Your head banged against the floor. It hurts like a bitch. Your chest tightened. The hand that held you pressed hard against your back, the other pinning your hands together. You couldn't move.
God, is this the day you die? What about Alice? She's still young. She's too young!
You didn't even care for your life right now. You wanted to make sure Alice was safe, but you couldn't do that right now. If she does survive, you hoped he would take her in.
