A loud noise was heard from downstairs. Did mommy drop something? Alice thought to herself. It wasn't unlikely. She turned over to sally who was asleep, wondering how she didn't wake up from the loud noise.
She was about to head back to sleep until she heard her mother's voice. It wasn't that loud, but her room was above the dining room and kitchen, so it was pretty clear to her.
She sat up again, contemplating if she should go down. But then mommy would wind out she wasn't asleep, again. But her gut feeling was telling her to just go down. At least check if you were okay.
Her feet touched the cold floor of her room. Slowly walking to not wake sally up. The door creaked open and she heard an unfamiliar voice, a male one.
It can't be daddy, can it? No, daddy lives far away! She thought. Then.. Was her mom in danger..? When that realization hit her, she started to panic. Nonono.. What if mommy's hurt?
She wouldn't be lying if she said she was scared. She looked around her room before her eyes landed on her toy box, where a large wooden bat laid. It was something given by her grandmother for her last birthday.
Did she know how to use it? No. But she did know how to throw it at people. She slowly reached out to the bat. It wasn't that big, but large enough to cause damage. It was quite heavy too so she usually dragged it. But dragging it would make too much noise.
She carried it on her shoulder, trying not to trip. She left Sally and went down the stairs. Every light was turned off except for the kitchen. She peeked over and saw a man pinning her mother down. His back was turned to her.
Slowly, she raised the bat and threw ut right at his head. She missed a bit and ended up hitting his neck as well. Well, hope it isn't broken. With the man distracted, or rather in pain, you shoved him off and pinned him down.
"Oh! Is he dead?"
Alice tilted her head. The bat, which now had a bit of blood, was still in her hands. She glanced at the unconscious man. Maybe she felt a bit, guilty? No, she shouldn't be. He hurt mommy after all! The man laid on the floor, his face covered by an odd mask.
The mother-daughter pair were too caught up with themselves to notice Sally in the room. She had seemed yo notice that Alice was missing, so she went down in search of her. What she didn't expect was to find her coworker unconscious or you hurt, a drip of blood coming from your forehead.
It didn't take long for her to realize what had happened. Alice seemed to notice her presence first, quickly turning around. Her look of fear earlier was replaced by a bright smile.
"Sal! What're you doing awake?? C'mon- let's go back to bed!"
She smiled brightly, despite knocking out a guy literally seconds ago. She kicked the man's leg away and approached the ghost girl. In the meanwhile you checked on the man who had pinned you down. Fortunately (?) He was still alive and breathing, just unconscious.
You took out your phone from your pocket to call the police. A bloodied hand stopped you. Your (e/c) eyes met Sally's green ones.
"Please don't, mrs. (L/n). He's my friend"
She pleaded with you. What? Friend? Your eyes went back to the unconscious man, who was being poked by the end of a bat by Alice. Sally kept tugging at your sleeve.
"I'm sorry Sally, but he literally broke into my house and tried to hurt me"
You brought your phone closer to you.
"And what if he tries to hurt Alice or you?"
Well you guess technically Sally can't be hurt, being a ghost and all. But she kept insisting or else you'll end up dead like her. You put your phone back into your pocket, a sigh leaving your lips.

The man awoke on a strangers couch. His head stung a lot. He didn't really remember what happened, just pinning the woman down then getting knocked out by who knows. His mask was laid on the table. Slowly turning his head to the side, he met with (e/c) eyes staring at him.
A child, probably no older than five. Her bright blonde hair messy and all over the place. Judging by the fact that she was in striped pyjamas, it was probably only a couple hours ago that he had fell unconscious. She kept poking his cheek.
"Oh! You're awake! Sorry I hit your head, mister smiley face!"
The child smiled brightly. This.. This was the one who hit him?? A literal child. He slowly tried to sit up, looking around the room cautiously. The missing ghost, Sally was currently sitting on the edge of the couch. The child continuously poked him, the curious look never leaving her face.
"Does your head hurt mister smiley face?"
The man only shook his head. He noticed another presence in the room. A woman around her mid to late twenties who he assumed was the child's mother, also the woman he had pinned down.
You could only stare at him. Sally had instructed you to not do anything rash if you wanted to live. Alice finally stopped poking the man and yawned. It was almost midnight by now.
Alice kept refusing to go to bed with the excuse on wanting to apologize to the man. Your (e/c) eyes scanned the man from head to toe. His eyes were as blue as the ocean on a summer day. His hair as black as tar. In fact, he looked quite handsome.
But he still had the intention to hurt you so you don't trust him yet. Sally had explained to you that she knew the man and he was probably only here because of her. He was 'harmless' she said. You felt like it was a lie.
"So.. Who are you exactly? And why did you break into my home?"
You wanted to be straightforward with the man.
"I was looking for her"
He pointed to the ghost girl. God.. Even his voice is handsome. No, don't get yourself distracted. He didn't seem to want to talk much. His blank stare creeped you out a bit. Sally only smiled, hoping you two would get along. After all, she wanted to stay here a little longer.
"Helen.. My name is helen"

A/N : I have a bias for bloody painter so he's the next to appear. God i love this man. Anyways that's it for chapter two. I hope I did his character justice and he's not too ooc. And we got more bits of Alice! Well the book is named after her after all.
Realistically helen should have been able to take alice out pretty quickly i guess. But we can't have her dying yet. It's only chapter 2.
Anyways I'll see y'all in chapter 3! Also thank you for 40 reads❤
