(The video up top if what I listened to for most of the chapter: y'know, Animals, depressing old stuff, classics, the gist. I also listened to Plush by Stone Temple Pilots for the first part-- I dunno it just felt like it worked-- and In My Time Of Dying by Led Zeppelin. Nope, no Zeppelin obsession here...maybe...also that meme is my life heh counter-productive image use here)

O Captain! my Captain!

She called to him, reaching for assuring arms.

our fearful trip is done,

The ship has weather'd every rack,

the prize we sought is won,

Happy shrieking punctuated the darkening skies, revealing the bright shine of the heavens beyond. Stars, they called to their wondering children.

The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;

They all gazed in helpless thrill at fate's vessel itself, a glorious machine exulting prowess and power at all who looked on its stunning figure. The sky, having seen nothing of such beauty before, began to openly rain tears on the people below.

But O heart! heart! heart!

She was hoisted onto a pair of sturdy shoulders to witness the miracle. Her heart gasped at the sight, singing praise of the highest stature, praise of such glory that only a five year old could convey.

O the bleeding drops of red,

Where on the deck my Captain lies,

She heard the screams once more, but was unable to detect the horror now laced underneath.

Fallen cold and dead.

She laughed giddily.

O Captain! my Captain!

The shoulders rebuked her. She tumbled onto the ground. He grabbed her arm and took off.

rise up and hear the bells;

The church bell clanged and clattered in the distance. He pulled her along faster.

Rise up

-for you the flag is flung-

She tripped. He cursed and lifted her up swiftly. He continued to run away from the docks. There was shouting from all sides. It hurt her ears.

for you the bugle trills,

She wailed in confusion. She wanted to see the boats. She kicked his shoulder blade vainly as he stumbled forward. He never stopped. No one was stopping. Everyone was running forward.

Forward.

Forward.

Forward.

Her heart beat forward too.

For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths-for you the shores a-crowding,

Faces blurred past as he ran. She continued to fight in confusion. Somebody screamed a name.

For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

Now the faces turned away, backwards. She screamed. It was lost in the crowding of terror.
