Chapter Nine: AwakeningKara jolted awake in her bed, her heart pounding. The soft glow of the house surrounded her once again, but it felt different this time—more vibrant, more alive. The dream still lingered in her mind, the echoes of her mother's words reverberating through her thoughts.
She sat up, trying to process what had just happened. Had she really seen her mother? Was that the truth she had been seeking? The pain and confusion coursing through her made it hard to breathe.
The door creaked open, and Sasha peeked in. "Hey, how was it?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Kara took a deep breath, her voice shaky. "I saw her... my mom. But it was like she was there, but not really there. And then... she disappeared."
Sasha nodded, sympathy in her eyes. "It takes time. The dreams will help you understand, but they can be painful too. Just remember what she said—you are stronger than you know."
Kara wiped away a stray tear, feeling the weight of the moment. "I need to know more. I need to find her again."
Sasha smiled softly. "Then you'll have to keep dreaming. But be careful—every time you go back, you uncover more than just memories. You might find things you're not ready for."
Kara nodded, determination igniting within her. This was just the beginning. She would keep searching, keep facing her past, no matter how difficult it was.
With renewed resolve, she prepared herself for the next night, ready to dive deeper into the dream world and uncover the truth about her family—and herself.
