Chapter Six: Kara's AwakeningKara stood in the common room, feeling the hum of energy around her. The glow from the walls pulsed softly, casting intricate shadows that danced on the floor. She could feel her heart racing, an intoxicating mixture of fear and curiosity coursing through her veins.
"Is this... really happening?" she murmured, half to herself, half to the group.
Trey stepped closer, his eyes locked onto hers. "It's real. You'll get used to it, but you have to be careful. The dreams can show you things you might not want to see."
"Like what?" Kara asked, a knot tightening in her stomach.
"Things about yourself. Your past. And sometimes, the truth can hurt," Trey replied, his voice serious. "You may not like what you find."
Kara felt a wave of uncertainty wash over her. She had spent most of her life running from her past, desperately trying to fill the void left by her family. The thought of confronting those memories—of seeing what she had tried so hard to forget—made her feel vulnerable, exposed.
"What if I don't want to go back?" she whispered, her voice barely audible above the shimmering energy that enveloped them.
Sasha placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "It's okay to feel scared. Just remember, you're not alone. We're all in this together."
Kara glanced around at the group—Trey, Sasha, Elijah, Jess, and Luis. They were all watching her, their faces a mix of encouragement and understanding. Despite her fear, a small spark of hope ignited within her. Maybe this was a chance to uncover the truth—not just about the house, but about herself.
"Okay," she said finally, her voice steadying. "I'll do it. I'll face whatever's in my dreams."
Jess gave her a small smile, a glimmer of respect in her eyes. "That's the spirit. Just remember, it's a journey. Take your time."
As the clock ticked on, Kara could feel the anticipation building inside her. She didn't know what to expect, but she felt an undeniable pull toward the unknown.
