"Jo, please, she'll listen to you." James begged, kneeling in front of Jo in the Gryffindor common room, her arms were crossed in front of her, bundled in a scarf.

"No, leave her be. Lily isn't interested, I don't fancy pissing her off today just because you're a horny piece of shit." Jo scoffed, tired of being a wingman in a failing relationship. "And don't argue! Last time you asked her out, you said, how about a flick and a bit of repose?"

Sirius burst out laughing and James only whined further, "she's a muggle! I thought it was funny because flicks are movies!" Sirius lost balance and crumbled to the floor, clutching his stomach.

"That's the stupidest pick up line ever!" He said, "you're never going to get the girl to go out with you!"

"Shut up Sirius!" James retorted, then looked to Jo once more. "Look what you've started!" He blamed her, swinging a pillow from the settee and into Sirius' head, the pair of them engaged in a fisticuff, dangerously close to the fire.

Jo felt a hand on her shoulder, Remus jumping over the backrest and sitting beside her on the settee, "what was it this time?" He snorts, "wait -"

"Lily." They say simultaneously, unable to resist the toothy grins they gave each other.

"So are you still up for today?" Remus asked, "I don't want to make it awkward... we didn't get around to arranging anything and I-"

"I agreed to do it, besides it'd be weird if we didn't go together." She replies, her voice just above a whisper. "You can stock up my sugarquills in the meantime."

Jo and Remus hadn't mentioned the kitchen incident that happened last week, blaming it on the new moon to reassure themselves that they were still friends, just friends. Despite the fact that both had been eager and willing to risk their friendship to kiss another time.

He tentatively grabs her hand, feeling a spark as she envelops his fingers with hers, leaning her head against her shoulder as they always do. "Thank you Jo."

"Always, Remus."

Despite Jo's arguments against it, Lily reluctantly walked down to the village with the boys. James was thrilled and spent the entire time trying to persuade her to hold his hand because 'if Jo and Remus could do it, why can't they?' To which she simple huffed, her nose pink from the autumn cold, and walked ahead.

"D'you think they'll ever get together?" Jo held onto Remus' arm, a motion she found surprisingly comforting. "Lily talks about James 'n awful lot."

Remus chuckled, "don't tell him that - he'd never let it go otherwise." He whispered down to her, his breath warm on her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. "But I reckon she'll give into him next year, but I wouldn't be surprised it James makes a right fool of himself."

"James always makes a fool of himself, remember he's banned from the Hog's Head ever since he accidentally clogged the bathroom." Jo snorts into his shoulder, laughing alongside her friend, feeling flushed from the cool wind.

"Have I ever told you about the time he clogged the bathroom at the Three Broomsticks and climbed out the window to avoid Rosmerta because he had the biggest crush on her when we were fourteen." Remus muttered, pulling Jo a little closer as Peter looked back at them.

"Hold on- was that after he begged her to put an obscene amount of cheese on his chips because his parents took him to Canada that summer?" Jo gaped, "don't tell me he was the reason the bathrooms were shut for two weeks!"

"The very reason." Remus nodded and Jo cried out, "I'm tellin' you too much dairy does not sit well with James."

"That's hilarious, I reckon that'd be enough to take his ego down a notch if we let it slip." Jo bumped his shoulder and ran ahead to walk by Sirius and James, bickering like a married couple as usual. "Boys! How are we today, teeth feeling secure?!" They swing her arms around her, coddling Jo like their younger sister.
