The night of the house party was buzzing with energy. Music thumped in the background, people danced, laughed, and mingled under the dim lights. Winter, the star player of the school football team, leaned casually against the kitchen counter, a drink in her hand, watching the chaos unfold around her.

Her attention was soon drawn to a girl across the room, someone she hadn’t seen before. She had long, dark hair and carried herself with a calm confidence that instantly caught Winter’s eye. Winter wasn’t new to girls giving her attention, but this girl was different—there was something about her that made Winter’s stomach flip.

Karina.

Winter hadn’t expected the girl to come over, but as if sensing Winter’s stare, Karina sauntered up to her, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

“You staring, or do you just not know what to say?” Karina teased lightly, her voice smooth and a little challenging.

Winter chuckled, leaning closer. “Well, you caught me off guard. That doesn’t happen often.”

“Good to know,” Karina replied, raising an eyebrow. “So, you gonna tell me your name, or are we just gonna keep the staring thing going?”

“Winter,” she said, offering a grin. “And you?”

“Karina.”

The chemistry between them was instant, electric. The rest of the night blurred as they flirted, each comment laced with a playful edge. Karina was sharp, quick with her words, and Winter found herself drawn in deeper with every exchange. They moved through the party together, drinks in hand, their banter flowing effortlessly.

By the end of the night, after enough drinks and teasing, Winter found herself kissing Karina in a dimly lit corner of the house, their bodies pressed close, the heat between them undeniable. Karina’s lips were soft, her touch gentle yet firm, and Winter felt that familiar rush of excitement that always came when she found herself in these situations.

But this time, it felt different.

The next day, Winter stood in the locker room with her teammates, trying to shake off the events of the night before. Ningning and Giselle, her closest friends and teammates, were chatting nearby when Ningning suddenly gasped.

“Winter,” Ningning pointed at her neck, eyes wide. “Is that a hickey?”

Giselle snickered. “Winter strikes again.”

Winter rolled her eyes, trying to act nonchalant as she pulled her shirt up to cover the mark. “It’s not a big deal.”

“Not a big deal?” Ningning laughed. “You’ve always got someone all over you. Who was it this time?”

Winter shrugged, trying to play it cool. “Just a girl from the party.”

“Oh come on,” Giselle nudged her. “You can’t just brush this off. You’re like a hickey magnet at this point.”

Winter was about to brush them off again when the locker room door swung open, and in walked Karina.

Winter froze.

Karina was the new student joining the football team. Winter had no idea, and suddenly, the night before felt a lot more complicated.

Karina’s eyes flicked over to Winter for the briefest of moments, a small smile playing on her lips. She gave a quick wave to the coach and moved to get her gear, acting like she and Winter were complete strangers.

Winter’s stomach twisted.

Ningning noticed Winter’s reaction and smirked. “Something you wanna tell us?”
