october 28th

alaina was casually laying in bed binge watching some netflix until she got a face time call from her bestfriend imogen.

imogen: "hello!"

alaina: "hey immy, whats up?"

imogen: "i have something important i need to tell you.. but first you need to promise not to tell anybody!"

alaina: "i promise."

imogen: "sooo... i like nick nelson! in more than a friend way ahah"

alainas heart suddenly skipped a beat.

alaina: "w-what?"

imogen: "huh?"

alaina: "b- but i.... oh! immy thats great news, i think you would both make a splendid couple! but i uhh- i have to go now bye!"

alaina awkwardly ended the call as her heart began to race and mind flooding with thoughts.

soon after this, she drifted off to sleep.

the next morning, alaina and imogen stood outside of truham with nick and his rugby friends which is what they'd usually do everyday. typically alaina was quite talkative but today she was stood silent, her mind still raging with thoughts. "what?" nick whispered concerningly as he noticed something was wrong. "do- d-" alaina was going to ask if he liked imogen back suddenly that didn't feel like the right time to ask. so instead she says "do you want to come round my house?"
luckily nick replies with "yeah".

the following day, nick went round to alaina's house. he found out she plays piano and wanted her to give him a lesson. alaina began playing 'all of me' by john legend.

nicks pov:
" i couldn't help but admire her as she played the piano. just watching her and hearing the song brought tears to my eyes. she looked so effortlessly beautiful."

"here! you give it a go now" alaina said with a smile.
coincidentally, nick had his hand on the wrong key so alaina moved it to the right one. as this happened, both of them were trying to hide the fact that they were blushing hysterically.

that night, both of them were led down on the couch watching 'the incredible hulk.' about thirty minutes in, alaina had fallen asleep with her hand wide open. nick had noticed this and suddenly had the urge to hold her hand.
slowly and steadily, he gently placed his hand in hers only to take it away the next second as his anxiety took over.

the movie had eventually ended and it was time for nick to go home. before he left, he told her "you look so cuddely like that" as she stood with a fluffy blanket over her.
"do i?" she anwsered.
"yeah" nick chuckled as he rushed over and gave her a hug. this lasted around 10 seconds until nick awkwardly left.

"new boyfriend?" alaina's older brother, georgie asked as he stood smirking in the corner.
"just a friend" she sighed.
"definitely seems like more than friendship to me." he laughed.
