Y/N rested her head against the steering wheel of her car, her body feeling like lead after the worst day imaginable. All she wanted was to crawl into her bed and forget the world. But first, she had to muster the energy to get out of the car.
As she entered the house, she forced a smile, greeting everyone with a soft "hi," not wanting to seem rude. Instead of heading to her own room, she found herself drawn to Vinnie's. He was streaming, and she took a moment to watch him, the glow of the screen illuminating his features. With a soft sigh, she laid down on his bed beside Hera, who purred contentedly next to her.
Y/N admired Vinnie as he engaged with his audience, captivated by the way he animatedly talked, his expressions shifting with every joke and story. They had fooled everyone, including themselves, into believing they were just friends, but the truth lingered beneath the surface. She wasn't ready for a relationship; her past issues loomed like shadows, and he struggled to express the feelings that burned in his chest.
Eventually, Vinnie ended his stream and joined her on the bed. He laid his head on her chest, draping his arm over her waist. Y/N instinctively scooted closer, wrapping her arms around him, one hand gently stroking his hair.
"Tired?" she asked softly, enjoying the moment. He shook his head no, simply wanting to be close to her. They lay together in comfortable silence, with Hera nestled in the middle, a little family in their own cozy world.
"Y/N?" Vinnie said, his voice nervous, breaking the tranquility.
"Hmm?"
"Let me take you out on a date. A real one, no interruptions—just us." He had been planning to ask for months, the words tangled in his throat out of fear of her reaction.
"Okay," she smiled, her heart racing.
"Okay." He beamed, placing his head back on her chest. Inside, Y/N was practically screaming with joy, disbelief washing over her.
They spent the rest of the night wrapped in each other's warmth, their legs intertwined as they chatted about their days and shared soft, lingering touches, both of them unwilling to break the spell of their perfect evening.
The next day, Y/N fidgeted nervously in the passenger seat of Vinnie's car. The air was thick with excitement and apprehension, neither of them quite knowing what to say.
"You look really pretty," Vinnie said, placing his hand reassuringly on her thigh.
"Thanks, V," she replied softly, butterflies dancing in her stomach as his cold hand sent little shivers up her spine, grounding her in the moment.
"The skate park? Vin, I can't skate," she laughed as he opened the door for her, a teasing smile on his face.
"That's why I'm teaching you, love," he said, taking her hand and interlocking their fingers, leading her inside.
They spent the next few hours at the skate park, Y/N stumbling and laughing as Vinnie showed her the ropes, occasionally showcasing his own tricks with a playful wink. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow around them, they realized how late it had gotten.
"What do you want to eat?" he asked as they headed back to the car.
"How about fast food? We can grab it and head back to your place to watch that new anime you were telling me about," she suggested, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Vinnie looked at her with sheer admiration. She was everything he'd dreamed of—someone who not only enjoyed his interests but also cared for him deeply.
"That sounds great," he replied, a smile lighting up his face as he pulled out of the parking lot.
They returned with burgers and fries, laughter echoing around the room as they devoured their meal and discussed their favorite and least favorite anime, animatedly debating the merits of each.
As Y/N leaned against him, feeling utterly content, she soon drifted off to sleep. Vinnie looked down at the girl resting against him, a smile creeping onto his face. I wouldn't trade this for the world, he thought before succumbing to sleep himself.
Y/N woke up first, still curled in the same position as when she fell asleep. As Vinnie began to stir, she whispered, "Hi," her heart fluttering as he looked down at her, a sleepy smile brightening his face.
"Hey," he replied, running a hand over his face, still waking up. "We fell asleep," he chuckled, glancing at the sleeping cat beside them.
"That we did," Y/N said, gently petting Hera. "I had so much fun yesterday."
"How about we do it all again today?" Vinnie suggested, his eyes sparkling with excitement, and Y/N felt a surge of happiness at the thought of another perfect day together.
