Full moon II
"Nah, you definitely were"
"I was not," I replied as I stepped back pushing myself up against the wall in an attempt to create distance between us.
"And so what if I was staring? Why do you care?"
He was uncomfortably close at this point. So close I could see the tiny beads of sweat on his upper lip, and the black freckle - like speck inside his left iris.
"You 100% were. What, you think I couldn't see you from the stage?"
He had a gleam in his eye and a sinister smirk that made me uneasy, but at this point I was agitated. He's cornering me in an empty hallway and interrogating me for having stared at him. His arrogance was starting to piss me off at this point. Had he completely forgotten that he was a complete and total prick to me from the moment we met?
"So what ? I don't give a fuck about what you saw , back the fuck up off me or I swear to god I will fucking hit you,"
"Woah, little miss thing got a mouth on her!"
"I'm not playing, I will fucking smack the fuck out of you. Look, I don't know what your problem is but I'm not the one."
Ari moved in closer, our faces so close I could feel his hot breath on my face. My respirations quickened, and my pulse pounded so loudly I thought my ear drums would rupture. My anger had reached boiling point, and I was extremely close to snapping.
"Do it. Hit me, I fucking dare you,"
We stood staring each other down for what seemed like an eternity. The expression on Ari's face gave smug, arrogant and amused all together. He was enjoying watching me squirm with unease at his presence.I wanted to hit him. He deserved it. I wanted to hurt him like he hurt me. Eye for an eye. But truth be told, I've never been one for confrontation and something inside me told me to have restraint in that moment - mostly fear of retaliation. A man who attempts to incite violence in a woman is sure to hit back- a hard lesson life had taught me years ago.
Then Ari retreated back a few steps before muttering "Exactly as I thought, stupid bitch."
I snapped.
I lunged forward with my arm wrapped back, prepared to slap. I swung my arm forward with quickness slapping the fuck out of Ari. My hand collided with his face, and the PANG! sound of the slap was so loud it reverberated off the walls. His left cheek was immediately reddened in the shape of my hand.
Aris mouth opened with shock, and I watched a stream of blood mixed with saliva dribble out of his mouth which he quickly wiped away.
Standing my ground, I watched Aris expression quickly turn from surprise to anger.
Before he had a chance to react, I shoved past him and quickly darted towards the main entrance. I was ready to leave the venue and was prepared to run all the way home if necessary. With The rush of the adrenaline I think I could have literally ran all the way home without stopping."HEY! Where are you going!" An obviously confused and worried Leigh Ann grabbed my arm as I ran, causing me to stumble briefly before regaining my balance.
"I have to go, now! I can't stay here!" I said through ragged breathing.
"Why? What's wrong, did something happen?"
"Can't talk about it now- I just need to get out of here."
I could feel hot tears form behind my eyes. I was a mess of emotions and was on the verge of a full blown panic attack."Did I do something wrong?"
"No, of course not! Listen if you can't take me home I'll walk or run, but I've got to get out of here."
