Third-person pov:

Two people walked through a room that was lit by one signal blueish light, along with the sun that was starting to set.

Thomas and Teresa walked into a common room, looking for their child. Thomas was very upset, the bored directors told the two of them that Y/n was going into the maze. He was also upset with Teresa. She was only doing this for humanity's sake, but it felt like she was tearing their little family apart.

Thomas and Teresa had Y/n when they were 16 and 17. I know, they were very young but with no education on sexual intercourse. It just happened.

Now, at ages 19 and 20, their little girl was going up into the maze because the new theory was that more serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin in the subjects would help find a cure for the flare virus.

Thomas turned towards Teresa with tears threatening to fall.

"Do we have to?" He muttered. She gave him a sad smile.

"We need to find a cure," Teresa replied and, in a way of comfort, rubbed his arm lightly. He nodded and they opened the door.

They walked in and saw about a dozen little kids all playing and crawling and walking around. They were going to be sent up into different mazes to help them find a cure.

But Y/n was the 'test run' to see if any progress would be made, if not then no other child would be entering the maze.

Their daughter, Y/n, was in the corner playing with little wooden figures by herself. Little Y/n was an introvert and didn't play well with others. Strangely for the other's sakes, Y/n was aggressive.

Thomas and Teresa walked over and crouched down to be at eye level. Y/n looked up with a smile on her adorable face. Teresa smiled back normally as Thomas tried his best.

"Hey, sweet girl," Teresa said and held out her hand. "We're going to get checked out again, ok?"

Y/n nodded and stood up, wearing a white overall and a white t-shirt. Every child in the room wears white.

Teresa took Y/n's hand and Thomas took the other, walking out of the room as the rest of the children didn't get this care.

Y/n was lucky. She was born here, while most children were taken. And with even more luck, her parents were one of the most liked people around, making her liked as well.

Their little family also got their room together. Like an apartment. But most of the time they only used it for sleeping. Y/n would usually be in testing areas or playing in a room.

As the three of them walked, down a hallway and entered a room. There was a chair and a table full of supplies for the memory wipe into the maze trial.

Her parents helped her sit in the chair and all three of them waited for the doctor to put her to sleep. It would be the last thing she'd remember before everything was wiped.

Thomas was still trying his best to hold back tears as Teresa started to cry a little bit. The young girl was confused about why her parents were upset.

Her father kissed her on the head as he held her hand. Her mother held her other hand and rubbed her knuckles.

"Why are you guys upset?" Y/n asked softly. Her speech was slurred and wasn't perfect yet, but her mom and dad could understand her just fine.

"Nothing, we just, missed you that's all." Her mother told her with a reassuring smile, which was fake, but to Y/n it was real.

"Yeah, we missed you so much that we're gonna have a surprise later today." Her father told her, gaining her attention. Their girl smiled.

"Really?" She asked, excited. Her dad nodded.

"Yup, we're gonna have ice cream and cookies. All your favorites. New toys too." He said while tears fell. He knew that wasn't going to happen, he didn't want Y/n to be scared in her last moments.

"And we'll hang out with you the rest of the day. We can watch movies and eat all the junk food we want." Her mother added. The girl's smile brightened as she thought about later that day.

"Yay!" She cheered. Her parents laughed softly as they looked at her. And at that moment, they were a happy, little, family.

Just then, the door opened and all their fears came back. Teresa let out a sob that made Y/n look at her with worry.

"What's wrong mumma?" She asked. Her mum looked at her as she rubbed her little hand.

"Nothing baby." She told her again. Little Y/n nodded as her father came close and kissed her cheek. The father and daughter rested their foreheads on each other as her mother held her hand tightly.

Y/n was still confused as the doctor started to talk to her mum and dad. Then, another doctor came in that she didn't like. Ava Paige.

Ava looked at the young girl and smiled, coming close to telling her something.

"Wicked is good." She told her as she felt a prick in her arm. The girl yelped at the sting from the needle that was in her arm.

Looking back at her parents, they were crying hard now. She looked at the confused as she felt tired. Teresa brushed the girl's hair back with her fingers as Thomas's forehead was still against Y/n's.

"You're gonna be alright, my good girl." Her father whispered as her eyes started to close, casing her in darkness.

Thomas had to step out of the room after Y/n slumped down in her chair. Teresa called after him but he didn't respond. Ava patted her shoulder as she told the doctor to prep the young girl's arrival into the maze.

After that, Y/n was in the box with no memory of her past life and her new one up ahead.
