Then
Brown leaves, a Gentle fire, and a Rose: Sim Jaeyun & Kim SunooJake should stop staring. Jake should have stopped staring minutes ago but each time he pulls his eyes away from Sunoo, he finds his gaze slowly drifting back. Like a moth to a flame, Jake can’t help but stare. There was a dull throb in his chest. He didn’t notice it before but now that he has it was all he could notice and it all linked back to the pretty boy in front of him.
Sunoo’s lips were pursed in a pout as he focused on his work. Jake did his best to break everything down nicely for him but Sunoo was still struggling. He was adorable when he was frustrated. Jake knows he shouldn’t find joy in the youngers troubles but Sunoo is always so reactive to everything he does. There was a tug in his chest, a little voice in his head just begging him to mess with Sunoo, tease him, and do anything to get his attention. Recently Jake always wanted his attention, more so than he wanted Sunghoons. It’s a bit embarrassing, something he doesn’t want to admit.
“Jake-ah. I can’t figure it out,” Sunoo frowns. He turns his workbook around pushing it towards Jake. Jake gulps hearing Sunoo’s smooth voice. Listening to Sunoo speak always gave him whiplash. When he was happy and excited his voice went up as he bounced around, the perfect image of a happy bubbly omega. Other times, like now his voice was smooth and rich like a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. It always sent a shiver down Jake’s spine. He’s unsure which version of Sunoo he liked more. Maybe it was equally both.
“Jake-ah!” Sunoo calls again, a bit of a whine in his voice. Jake clears his throat. His face feels warm, cheeks dusted pink.
“Um right. Let me see,” he takes the workbook looking over the question.
“Hmm start here,” he murmurs. Sunoo leans over the table, the top of his head hovering close to Jake's. Jake’s voice trembles more than usual as he explains the structural organization of eukaryotic chromosomes. He’s unsure if he’s even explaining it correctly as he feels his pulse jump, as Sunoo’s warm breath fans against his ear.
“D-do you understand now?” Jake’s breath catches in his throat when he looks up. The sun hit against Sunoo’s eyes just right, showing off the beautiful pair of brown orbs. They reminded Jake of the leaves during the fall, covering the ground, surrounded by color. They stood out against everything else, a perfect combination to the cool autumn nights and bonfires. Or maybe Sunoo’s eyes were more like the wood paired with a fire. A necessity for a spark, providing vibrant color and warmth.
“I know I’m pretty Jake but could you not stare so hard?” a smug smile stretches on Sunoo’s face. Jake wants to agree, he wants to tell Sunoo he’s pretty, beautiful even but the tug on his chest forces out an entirely different set of words.
“What makes you think you’re so pretty?”
Sunoo scoffs, rolling his eyes. “Is it not obvious? Why else would you be staring so hard?”
“I was thinking about your lesson! Were you even paying attention? I don’t feel like explaining it a million times.”
“You don’t explain it a million times! It’s not my fault this is all so confusing!”
