Jeonghan couldn’t hide the fact that he was a little shaken after the visit from Seungcheol’s father. The man had said some cruel things, words that might have ground down his self-worth were it not for Seungcheol. Minghao had taken him into the kitchen but very deliberately opened the window so they could hear every word that passed between the alphas. Jeonghan’s heart soared as Seungcheol told his father that this life, the life he had with Jeonghan, was the one he’d always wanted. He chose Jeonghan above all else, when he could have chosen an illustrious career or a higher-status mate.

Both Minghao and Seungcheol encouraged him to shift and take a nap after the difficult encounter. He curled up on his and Seungcheol’s bed while the alpha, Minghao, and Junhui took turns keeping him company. He shifted back to eat dinner and found Seungcheol had piled cushion on the couch in the living room for him. After they ate, they cuddled there together.

You know you’re none of the things my father said you were, don’t you?” Seungcheol asked suddenly.

Well, I am an omega,” Jeonghan pointed out. “He got that part right.

Seungcheol snorted. “You know what I mean.

Squirming against the alpha to get more comfortable, he nodded. “I know. I’m not your plaything or your whore.

The alpha winced at the word, looking pained. “I’m your bonded mate. Your pack mate. I’ll never leave your side.

Or me yours,” Seungcheol agreed softly.

Jeonghan felt an unmistakable sensation in his belly and grabbed Seungcheol’s hand. “Here, one of them is kicking.

He pressed Seungcheol’s fingers to his bump, the alpha inhaling sharply. “I feel it. Quite a powerful little guy, isn’t he?

Takes after his daddy.” He yawned again, being slowly but surely lulled to sleep by the warmth and comfort of Seungcheol’s embrace. “Speaking of the babies, isn’t it time we started getting ready for them? We’ve only got another month, at most. And we haven’t bought a single thing.

I did see the cutest baby sunglasses the last time I was in town,” Minghao said, looking up from where he had his nose buried in a book. Unlike Jeonghan’s fondness for romance or Seungcheol’s love of a good detective story, he stuck to biographies.

Jeonghan made a face. “I think we might need more than sunglasses. Like baby clothes, diapers, cribs? We haven’t even decided which room we’re using as the nursery yet.

He was starting to feel anxious by how unprepared they were, and he said as much to Seungcheol and Minghao. The two exchanged a look.

Yeah, about that,” Minghao said. “We have some visitors coming soon.

How soon?” Seungcheol asked. “Have you heard from them?

They’ll be here tomorrow.

The alpha huffed out a groan. “A little warning would have been nice, Minghao.

Sorry, Seungcheol. With all the drama earlier, it just slipped my mind.

Jeonghan glanced between them, confused and a little grumpy at being left out of the loop. “Who’s coming?

Our pack friends,” Seungcheol said simply. “They promised to help us get ready for the babies.

He perked up at that, both excited and relieved that they might have some support. It was clear neither his nor Seungcheol’s father would lend a helping hand.
