At work, the usual buzz of tasks and paperwork surrounded me. I was midway through drafting a report when my phone vibrated, a message lighting up the screen.
Yunjin: "Grab me some coffee from that place I really like"
I sighed. Of course, Yunjin wouldn't pick the coffee shop around the corner. She had to go for the one that was a 20-minute walk away. I looked at the clock, realizing I had a decent window to make the trip, so I didn't bother arguing about it. Not that I could argue with her anyway.
With a soft grumble to myself, I grabbed my coat and headed out. The cool breeze hit me as I started the walk. The route wasn't bad, actually. It gave me some time to think, and lately, Yunjin had been occupying more of those thoughts than I'd like to admit. Ever since the photoshoot and the time we'd spent together after work, something had shifted between us. It was subtle, but there was definitely a new dynamic. Still, I wasn't entirely sure what it meant.
When I arrived at the coffee shop, I gave her usual order and noticed something odd. There were two orders on the receipt. I raised an eyebrow, thinking maybe one was for a meeting or someone else in the office, but I didn't question it. With two cups in hand, I made my way back, the warm aroma of coffee drifting upward.
By the time I reached the office, I was more focused on how long it would take to finish my report than the fact I was delivering two coffees. Walking into Yunjin's office, I set both cups on her desk, ready to head back to my own corner when her voice stopped me.
"Stay."
I turned, confused. "Uh, what for?"
She casually picked up one of the cups, taking a sip before glancing at me with that unreadable expression she always wore. "I ordered two coffees for a reason. One's for you. Sit down."
I blinked, surprised. She wanted me to stay in her office? The thought made me both nervous and curious. "Why? You don't usually want company."
Yunjin didn't look up from the documents on her iPad, her fingers scrolling effortlessly. "I just enjoy your company," she said simply. "Is there a reason I shouldn't?"
Her response caught me off guard. I stood there for a moment, unsure of how to reply. She wasn't wrong—lately, I'd been spending more time in her office, usually under the guise of work-related tasks. But still, this was different.
With a hesitant nod, I sat down across from her, my hands wrapping around the warm coffee cup. The room was quiet, save for the soft sound of her fingers tapping against the screen. I watched her for a while, noting how focused she seemed, how natural it was for her to switch between tasks. Despite her cold and strict demeanor at work, there was something about being in her office like this that made her seem more... relaxed.
