The Ice prince's mind started racing.
Hovers Mother? Why was she chasing her own son? And why in Pyrrhia was Hover silent about this all this time?
He didn't take his eyes off of the huge skywing commander, feeling his blue blood boiling with rage. He wanted to kill her. His talons twitched so his sharp claws scraped on the stone underneath him as Hover watched him.

,,Please. Don't." Hover spoke up again, his voice weak, barely above a whisper. Iceberg could hear the fright in his voice which made him soften up.
The big orange skywing lifted her shoulders and flared her wings a little as Iceberg finally let the spear drop to the ground.
He never thought he would back off from a fight like this, he was raised to fight till death. He did it, only because of Hover.

,,Thank you." His skywing companion whispered to him, brushing his warm wing against Iceberg and taking a step forward.

,,Mom please, let us leave." He said to the skywing commander, a helpless tone filling his voice.

Iceberg didn't know what he would do in this situation.
When he thought about it, the first thing that came to mind was... kill her.
Was that okay? He never liked how the Queen treated him and he'd had similar thoughts before he had used his powers but... this time the urge felt stronger.

Hovers Mother glared down at him with a small glint in her eyes. Iceberg could tell she wanted to do as Hover begged her but she tried to hide her sympathies for her son. After a moment, Iceberg started worrying that she will leap for his throat any second so that she wouldn't have to decide whether to betray her own dragonet or her tribe.

,,Go." She growled while still looming over Hover. He watched Hover looking up at her for a moment as if he watned to hug her but thankfully he turned to Iceberg instead, his face full of grief.

As they flew over the Tajga forest, leaving the skywing patrol behind them, Iceberg wasn't sure what to say to Hover to cheer him up. They haven't talked properly since they took off which had Iceberg really worried he'd done something wrong.

,,Why didn't you tell me she was your mom sooner?" He turned his head to look at the orange Skywing flying right beside him.
Hover didn't look at him though, his gaze was still fixed on the horizon. They were flying towards the desert and Iceberg could already see the rocky ground shifting into sand in the distance. He had no idea where they would go but turning back felt impossible now.

,,I don't like to talk about her." He replied after a moment of silence. His face expression seemed so lifeless, Iceberg felt so bad just by looking at him. He wanted to help but he had no idea how. They taught him many things back home in the Ice kingdom, but dealing with emotions was not one of them.

,,My mom is awful too." Iceberg said, looking to the side. It was true, Queen North was just as cruel as any other Icewing parent. He always thought it was normal though, since he'd never known any other way parents could treat their dragonets.
,,She never cared for me, neither did anyone from my family really. They just want to use my power. My sister is a jealous snake who would ruin my life the moment she got the chance and my dad..." he fell silent. His dad wasn't as bad. He never did anything to protect Iceberg from their family's cruelty but he didn't hurt Iceberg himself. He even left the kingdom, flying over the whole continent just to find someone who could help Iceberg manage his powers. Only if Iceberg could see him again since then.

,,My mom wanted me to become a soldier, just like her." Hover spoke up suddenly. ,,When I told her I didn't want to fight, she called me a weakling and a disappointment. I tried my best to hide what actually interested me but when the Queen sent all her patrols to look for me and have my head, mother found out what I did. She's the Queens most trusted commander so she didn't hesitate to go after me. It makes me wonder if she would've loved me if I became an army fighter like her."

Iceberg listened to Hovers story, wishing he could make him feel better. Having similar experiences with their moms made him feel like being understood for the first time in years. He wondered if Hover felt the same way.
,,I'm glad I met you, Hover." he admitted. ,,You make me feel so safe and understood. With you I have an actual purpose."

Hover looked at him with a warm smile, tilting his wing to fly closer to the Icewing prince. When Iceberg felt their wing tips touch, his heart jumped as if it were a little rabbit.

,,Me too."
