Y/N had always felt at home at Camp Half-Blood, the one place where demigods like her could breathe freely. The camp was more than just a sanctuary; it was where she had met her closest friends—Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. Over time, they had become a family, the kind of bond that transcended bloodlines. When Athena claimed her as her daughter, it had been both a surprise and a revelation. But while Y/N embraced her legacy, her loyalty to Percy and the others never wavered. Together, they had faced trials that would break most people.

Tonight, Y/N was staying in Percy’s cabin. It wasn’t unusual for her to crash there, especially since the strange dreams had started. Percy had insisted she sleep near him for safety, his protective nature refusing to let her out of his sight. The air inside the cabin was warm, filled with the comforting scent of sea salt that seemed to cling to Percy wherever he went. Outside, the rhythmic crash of waves against the shore and the distant hum of crickets lulled the camp into a sense of calm.

As Y/N drifted off to sleep, she allowed herself to relax, feeling secure for the first time in days. But the peace didn’t last. From the shadows, a figure moved silently, slipping into the cabin without a sound. Luke Castellan, once their trusted friend, now a servant of Kronos, had come for her. His heart weighed heavy in his chest as he approached her bed, knowing full well the pain he was about to cause. But the orders had been given. With a flick of his wrist and a whispered incantation, Y/N disappeared into the night, leaving behind nothing but the faintest trace of magic.

Y/N awoke with a start, her heart racing as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. The soft sway beneath her feet and the rhythmic clatter of wheels on tracks told her she was on a moving train. Her hands instinctively reached out, but instead of open air, her fingers met cold, unyielding metal. She was in a cage. Panic surged through her as she scrambled to her knees, trying to make out the dimly lit room around her. Her weapons were gone, and her mind raced with a thousand questions. How had she gotten here? Who had taken her?

Before she could scream for help, a figure stepped out of the shadows, his silhouette unmistakable. Hermes, the god of travellers and thieves and Luke’s father stood before her, his expression cold and unreadable.

"You’re here because Percy refused to join Luke," Hermes said, his voice as sharp as a blade. "He defied us, and now you’re leverage. A pawn in this game."

Y/N’s heart pounded in her chest. This couldn’t be happening. She had been through many terrifying situations, but this was different. She was being used against Percy, the person who had always been her protector, her closest friend. Tears welled up in her eyes, and despite her efforts to remain strong, they spilt down her cheeks.

Hermes’ gaze softened, if only for a moment, before hardening again. "You’ll be the bait that draws him in," he continued, his voice detached. "One way or another, Percy will make the right choice—or he’ll lose you forever."

Back at Camp Half-Blood, the sun began to rise, casting a warm golden glow over the campgrounds. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover stirred from their sleep, groggy but ready to face another day of training and preparing for whatever might come next. It wasn’t until Percy glanced over at Y/N’s bedroll that a chill ran down his spine. The bed was empty. His heart dropped.

“Y/N?” Percy called out, louder this time, his voice tight with worry. Annabeth sat up, immediately sensing that something was wrong. Grover, rubbing his eyes, looked from Percy to the empty bedroll and back again. Y/N wasn’t one to wander off without telling them where she was going.
