"I have a question." Santa said out loud, disrupting the silence that has been consuming both of them.
"Go ahead."
Both are just lounging in the living room, watching a movie.
"Were you not scared when your parents told you that you'll be marrying someone?" Santa tilted his head looking at Perth who was still busy watching the movie.
"No. Marriages don't mean that much to me anyway. The only thing that changed is that I now have someone to live with. It's like having a housemate." Perth replied straightforwardly.
Oh. Santa's heart dropped upon hearing that. Way to get him out of his delusions. The little hope that he had in his heart that maybe he and Perth could make this work was crushed. It turns out that Perth doesn't even see him as his husband but as his housemate? He mentally scolded himself for being way too hopeless romantic and thinking that the simple acts of kindness that Perth gives him means something. Was he really not treated right that much?
"Santa, hey." He was brought back to reality when Perth snapped his fingers in front of him. He quickly looked at the guy who was watching him carefully.
"Is there something wrong? I've been calling you plenty of times already."
"Oh. Nothing. What were you saying?"
"I asked if marriage was sacred to you. But then I realized that you wouldn't have volunteered to be wed to someone you didn't even know if you do."
"Right. You got that one right." Santa tried to laugh it off. Perth's got a point though. He surely wouldn't have agreed to this if he really wanted romance. But he did. It's something that his system craves. The surprises. The hugs. The kisses. The laughs. The stares. The cuddles. No one has any idea for the things he'd give for nightly cuddles.
"I should probably start preparing. There's so much stuff that I still need to pack so I have to get there early." Santa told Perth and got up.
"Oh yeah. Go ahead. I'll follow after you're done."
Just as Santa was about to climb the stairs, he turned to look back at Perth.
"Uhm. Can I borrow some of your clothes again? I forgot I don't have any of mine here." Santa asked, anxiously.
"Sure. Just pick anything you like from the closet." Perth said, focus still on the movie. Is it his favorite or what?
"Thanks." With that, Santa went up to their bedroom and proceeded to open Perth's closet. There was a wide variety of clothes to choose from but he settled on a plain white shirt and sweatpants.
When he was done, he immediately went downstairs and saw that Perth just got up after turning the television off."I'm finished. I'll get going now." Santa informed Perth and immediately started walking towards the front door. Before he could even turn the knob, a hand stopped his wrist.
"Where do you think you're going?" Perth asked him, brows furrowed in confusion. Santa looked back at him, also confused.
"To my apartment? I'm supposed to get my things remember?"
"Yes but didn't we agree that I'll accompany you? And how are you supposed to get there?" Perth asked again.
"I can handle it myself. It's too much trouble for you already." Santa pulled his wrist out of Perth's grip to try and open the door but Perth tightened his hold.
"No. You're not getting out of this house unless I'm coming with you. Wait on the couch. I'll be quick." Perth pulled Santa towards the living room and pushed him to sit down. Then he quickly ran upstairs to get ready. Santa just sighed. Even though he wants to leave, he doesn't want to cross Perth since he has seen how he is when angry in the office. He just pulled out his phone and scrolled for a bit while waiting for his husband to finish.
