Namjoon glanced over at Seokjin, who was sitting across the room, deeply engrossed in some variety show on TV. Seokjin's laughter echoed through their shared apartment, a sound that always made Namjoon's heart swell. He was beautiful in every way, from his broad shoulders to the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed. It had been almost three years since they started dating, and to everyone who knew them, they were the picture of a happy, healthy relationship. Their friends would often tease them about how “whipped” they were for each other, and Namjoon would just smile and laugh along. But deep down, a nagging feeling had been growing in Namjoon’s chest—one he couldn’t quite shake off.
Seokjin, to Namjoon, was perfect. He was effortlessly charming, talented, and always knew how to lighten up a room with his goofy sense of humor. Namjoon, on the other hand, often felt like he was struggling to keep up. No matter how much love and care Seokjin showered on him, Namjoon sometimes wondered if he was truly enough for someone as amazing as Seokjin.
He tried to push the thought away as Seokjin looked over at him, flashing a wide grin. "Namjoonie, come watch this! You’re missing the best part!"
Namjoon smiled back, trying to hide his troubled thoughts. He walked over to the couch, sitting beside Seokjin. Seokjin immediately leaned into him, resting his head on Namjoon’s shoulder.
“You’re so warm,” Seokjin mumbled, sighing contentedly.
Namjoon wrapped an arm around him, letting the warmth of the moment ease his mind. For a while, they sat in comfortable silence, the sounds of the TV filling the room. But even as they enjoyed the peaceful moment, Namjoon’s thoughts drifted back to the same insecurity that had been gnawing at him for months.
After the show ended, Seokjin turned off the TV and stretched his arms over his head. “I’m starving,” he said. “Want to order some food?”
Namjoon nodded. “Sure. What are you in the mood for?”
“Hmm… maybe some fried chicken? I’ve been craving it all day.”
Namjoon pulled out his phone and started browsing for their usual takeout place. As he did, Seokjin slid closer, watching him with a soft smile.
“You know,” Seokjin said, his voice gentle, “you’ve been quieter than usual lately.”
Namjoon’s fingers paused over the screen. He glanced over at Seokjin, who was now looking at him with concern in his eyes.
“Is everything okay?” Seokjin asked.
Namjoon hesitated for a moment before sighing. “Yeah, everything’s fine,” he said, though even he could hear the lack of conviction in his own voice.
Seokjin wasn’t fooled. “Namjoon, come on. Talk to me.”
Namjoon shifted uncomfortably, debating whether he should bring it up or not. He didn’t want to burden Seokjin with his insecurities, especially when things were going so well between them. But he also knew that Seokjin wasn’t the type to let things go once he sensed something was wrong.
“Honestly,” Namjoon started, keeping his gaze on the phone, “I just… I don’t know. I’ve been feeling like I’m not enough lately. For you, I mean.”
Seokjin blinked, clearly taken aback. “Not enough? What are you talking about?”
Namjoon sighed, setting his phone down on the coffee table. “I mean, look at you, hyung. You’re incredible. You’re handsome, funny, talented… you’ve got it all. And sometimes I just feel like I’m… not on the same level. Like I’m not good enough for you.”
