Chapter 15 Shadows and Illusions

At the Colosseum

Port: Now for the moment you've all been waiting for. THE ONE ON ONE FINALS!!!

The crowd cheers as four Familiar faces were shown, Y/N, Penny, Pyrrha, and Mercury were standing alongside other students.

Port: Barty, why don't you explain the rules.

Oobleck: Ah, it's quite simple, Peter. Instead of a bracket system, each round of the finals will be randomly determined immediately before the match takes place.

Port: Much like any good hunt, there will be zero time to prepare.

Oobleck: Ah, yes, yes, yes. Now let's see who our first match will be.

The Hologram screens flick through a number of students. People lean onto their seats as Makoto notices Pyrrha's worried look before looking back up at the screen. Then it shows Mercury Black vs Makoto Yuki.

Port: Makoto vs Mercury Black!

People cheer as Ruby jumps up and down.

Ruby: BREAK A LEG, BLUE!

The scene changes as Cinder makes her exit with a smile on her face. Shadow notices this and was getting tense.

Blake: What's wrong?

Shadow: (Whispers) I have a bad feeling, the Professor stuff wasn't the only thing I found. Someone bad has control over who fights who, and... the entire Atlas army.

Blake: Wait, what?

Port: Will all other combatants, please leave the stage.

Makoto turns to Mercury and walks forward as he draws Elucinator and Dark Repulser. The platform lifts in the air as stage lights shine onto them.

Makoto turns to Mercury with a scowl on his face.

Makoto: I suppose you remember our last encounter, don't expect me to hold back.

Mercury: I'm looking forward to it.

The two get into a stance as they circle around.

Port: Three. Two. One. FIGHT!

Makoto's eyes glow blue as Mercury throws a kick shot which Makoto deflects. He runs at Mercury as he swings his swords while Mercury ether dodges or blocks with his legs. Before kicking Makoto at a distance. Makoto gets up with anger, and runs around the silver hair boy. Before striking him at high speeds, Mercury falls to the ground before spinning his body to fire silver shots at Makoto. He deflects each one with precision.

Blake: You're saying that someone has control over the system?

Shadow: Yeah, after last night. I went stright to Ironwood, with this information and he didn't believe me.

Blake: Oh no...

Mercury jumps in the air and tries doing a slam kick, but Makoto uses his swords to block. And throw him off. Mercury back flips and throws more kicks as Makoto dodged or blocked.
