A/N: Omg so I completely left Wattpad for a couple months (because I don't generally like how stories are sorted compared to AO3) But when I came back here to write for another collab story with my friend, I looked at this story and noticed it actually has views and stuff! Sorry for abandoning this story guys! I actually had no clue that people liked this story! Welp.. Enjoy this WAY overdo-ed chapter! Much luv!! (Another note.. I haven't been watching the second season recently because I've been busy.. Oops? I was pretty far ahead in the manga though so hopefully when I get back into it, there'll be plenty of stuff to read and watch :D)
"Grah!" Yu shouted as he swung the wooden sword at Guren. Without even batting an eye, the older man deflected the blow and sent the smaller off balance as his arm vibrated from the contact.
Yu started to feel impatient. Every day it's the same thing. Yu would try and hit Guren, but every time, Guren would block, dodge, and parry his every move. It was so infuriating, Yu could scream!
Yu lunged forward once more. Guren seemed to be impatient too, since his attacks were starting to get harder to dodge. When Guren smacked the sword from Yu's small hands, the kid huffed, and turned away.
What he was expecting, was Guren to run up and try to hit him with his back turned. What he also knew was Guren was expecting him to be shocked and just stand there.
So Yu tried to dodge. But what he wasn't expecting was there to be mud under his feet, and he slipped when he tried to dodge. Instead, he took the full blunt force of the wooden sword, when really, Guren was only planning on aiming it at him. Not actually hitting the boy.
Yu fell to the ground with a thump, and laid there. The commander stood over the boy, and waited for the raven haired child to jump up and try to hit him in the face with his sword. But after a straight ten seconds of nothing, Guren was starting to feel worried.
"Yu, get up. You'd be dead by now if a noble attacked you. Heck, you would've been dead ten seconds ago. Good going." He said sarcastically, and poked him with the sword lightly.
When the boy made no movement, Guren crouched down, and looked the boy over. A bruise was starting to form on his forehead. He lifted his head up, and felt the back of his head. There was a large bump there starting to form, and he 'tsked' slightly, before he picked the kid up, and slung him over his back.
He started to carry the kid back, grumbling about how the weather was starting to turn crappy, and how much he wanted to go home and sleep.
"Awww how cute!!" A squeal interrupted his complaining, as he looked to see Shinya racing over, and pinching Yu's cheek.
"Paws off. I gotta take him to the medical bay. He's probably suffering from more brain damage." He rolled his eyes, and Shinya laughed, but stopped nonetheless. Soon, Guren carried the smaller boy to the medical bay and let him be treated as he walked back to his room.As time went on, the purple eyed man started to feel guilty. Maybe he should've let Yu hit him once in a while so it inspired him, but then he thought about how Yu would never stop bragging. He shuddered and sat down and grabbed his book. As he opened it, he recalled that he'd need to go visit the boy soon, but as he tried to read, he kept rereading the same sentence over and over because it wouldn't stick in his mind. Instead he kept thinking about how Yu was slumped on the ground. After at least ten minutes, he grumbled under his breath about how much of a brat Yu was before he stood up and set his book back on his bookshelf and took off back to the medical bay.
When he arrived, the doctor gave him the info that had been gathered.
"He has a mild concussion, so I want you to make sure he doesn't sleep until I come in a check in him in four hours. I've already tested him on his learning skills and he seems to be a little slow so his recovery might take up to a couple days. Otherwise, he seems quite normal." The doctor explained and Guren nodded before he went to Yu's room. Immediately as soon as he opened the door, a pillow nearly hit his face, but with years of practice he caught it and rose an eyebrow at the child.
Yu stood on his bed and glared at Guren.
"Jerk!" He shouted and Guren chuckled and set the pillow on the nearby table as he walked in and closed the door behind him.
"Keep calling me that, and we'll see who rescues his ass when you're older." He teased but Yu glared angrily before he winced and grabbed at his head. Guren studied the younger and frowned.
"How are you feeling?" He questioned and cursed silently at how concerned he sounded because immediately Yu shot a grin.
"You getting soft?" He asked and Guren glared.
"Don't say that to the one that gave you a concussion." He sent back and the child stared at him with disbelief.
"You're not guilty?" He asked and Guren snorted.
"You're the one that fell in the way of my blade." He said and Yu shook his head and turned away.
"I can't believe you sometimes." He said before he turned his back on Guren and returned to the book that he left on his bed. Guren watched Yu try to read it as he pawed unconsciously at his head and the older shook his head.
"Give that here." He commanded and Yu looked over confusedly.
"Why?"
"Just give it."
Yu handed the book to Guren and the commander studied it before he opened the book and began to read to Yu. It'd help his head and soon the two had drowned into their roles.
