"Blasted crap!" Grayer cursed tossing the game console on the centre table. Summer smiled snugly from the couch beside him.

"I win again." Summer laughed beside him.

"Boo yuh!" She exclaimed leaning in close to Grayer and spreading out her fingers at his face in mock excitement.

Grayer scoffed rising up from the couch. He purposefully strode into Summer's magnanimous kitchen like he owned the place and made a beeline for the fridge. He pulled open the fridge door and thrust his head into it. Retrieving a carton of milk,he unscrewed its lid.

Summer who had followed up behind him pulled the milk carton from his hands and emptied it's contents in a glass. Then, she thrust it to her lips.

"You could have just asked if you wanted some too." Grayer reprimanded staring incredulously after her.

"Yeah right, after you'd contaminated the milk carton with your mouth germs, yeah right!" Summer deadpanned with an eye roll.

"You know, some girls would  die to have my lips on theirs." Grayer chuckled taking Summer's half drunk glass of milk. He swished its contents as Summer spoke up.

"Lucky I'm not one of them." She shot back .

Grayer groaned downing the contents of the glass .An alarm shot up on his iPhone and he dismissed it.

"Shit!" He softly cursed under his breath.

"What's up?" Summer asked pulling out a bar stool and sitting her bum on it. She stared quietly up at Grayer waiting for him to talk.

"I just remembered. I've got to pick Kennedy up from her piano class. It ends in fifteen minutes." He spoke up swiping up on his iPhone.

Kennedy,Grayer's younger sister could be a drama queens at times and Grayer didn't want to risk it by picking her up late. Perks of being the last kid,she was spoiled to the core, like Summer actually.

"Okay, fourteen minutes now." Grayer stated taking a cursory glance at his iPhone screen.

"I guess I'll be dropping her off at her friend's for a playdate then get my shit ready for Asher's tonight."He announced feeling the back of his jean trousers for his car keys.

"You'll probably just watch a rerun of Teen wolf?" Grayer opined pulling out his car keys after having gone through a back pocket containing an empty gum wrapper and a scrap of parking ticket.

Summer shrugged,"You might see me there."

Grayer stopped midwalk and stared down at her in mild confusion.

"You're coming to tonight's hangout?"

"Mhm." Summer nodded casually fidling with the empty milk carton.

Grayer raised a brow," You never come to parties,or hangouts.."

"I literally begged you to come to homecoming with me." He added for a good measure.

Summer shrugged it off with a "Well I'd like to go to this one, people change."

"At least your constant pestering is yielding results." She muttered under her breath shifting uncomfortably on the stool.

"You don't need to get defensive,it makes me feel you're hiding something." Grayer stated progressing towards the door.

"It's nothing,okay!" Summer shot back.

Now,she definitely was up to something Grayer thought with a little shake of his head  pulling the door open.

He stepped out of the house, the cool afternoon breeze hitting his face. His jaw tightened in deep thought as he pulled open his car door.

Summer never almost bent her rules for no one...Unless.

Unless maybe she there was a backstory.

How on earth did Asher Smith manage to convince his best friend to skip an alone date movie marathon night and dress her ass up for a party?

Which he usually begged measure before getting her to go to,he thought for a good measure.

The answer softly poked at him but he chose to push it to the back of his mind, where the truth lingered cause it was quite difficult to say out loud.

                                  ***

Soft music blasted from the background in the dimly lit party room.

The cramped up cluster of bodies took over the entire living room space as they jammed to the latest party hits.

The teens packed themselves tightly on the dance floor, jamming hard into each others maturing bodies.

The place smelled of body sweat and  alcohol. Vape and cigarette smoke wafted through Summer's nostrils.Sje subtly touched the bridge of her nose to clear it away.

It was like the entire mass was hypnotized by some force as they partied their souls out.

Summer's eyes did a quick sweep of the room , trying to locate the people she knew.

She stumbled across a redhead smoking pot from his position on the floor behind a couch.

She muttered an apology and turned her attention back to her surroundings.

Her eyes finally got lost in a pair of emerald green orbs.Taking a moment, she scanned across the boys facial features...damn he looked good!

Taking a nervous sigh, she boldly progressed towards him.

Her palms suddenly were sweaty and she discreetly brushed it over the side of her ripped baggy jean trousers. Her cami top accentuated her beautiful shoulders and flawless skin.

As she drew closer to him,her loop earrings dangled from her ears as her hair swooshed in its high ponytail. She wasn't a big fan of make up,so she wore just some cherry lip gloss.

"Hey cupcake,"Asher greeted staring down at her.His eyes softly raked across her body and a smile lit up his face,it only widened when he looked up, getting lost in her pretty eyes.

Summer let out a smile, the corners of her lips turning up in mild excitement.

"Hey." She stated noticing Grayer and the rest of the squad sitting on a couch a few metres behind Asher.

She gave them a little wave and turned her attention back to the guy in front of her.

"You look really good." Asher stated pushing a few blonde curls back. His hair swooshed perfectly atop his head, deeming him looking more expensive.

Summer bit back a smile,"Coming from you that means a lot.

"I'm surprised you came! I thought my wait was over when Grayer arrived without your cute self in tow." Asher stated as they unceremoniously took a cursory look at Grayer's way.

Grayer caught on and watched them ,his face expressionless but trying to make out what they were saying. It wasn't his business but he was bored. Plus,he was just looking out for his best friend.

Wait," So Summer did come because of Asher?" He thought to himself.

"I would have come , without Grayer regardless."Summer spoke up breaking the silence.

A smile crept up Asher's face. He looked at Summer with this sparkling intensity of his eyes and she met his gaze sending tuft little swarms of excitement throughout her body. There was no mistaking this chemistry...
