Joseph woke up. The soft morning light spilled into the cozy home, but his owner was still asleep. Joseph gazed at his owner's gentle face, as tender and smooth as flowing water, and felt a surge of warmth and happiness. He often thought that meeting his owner was the best thing that had ever happened to him. His owner had a childlike face, pure white hair, and a heart as gentle as a quiet stream. Joseph adored his owner more than anything.
Every night, Joseph slept next to his owner, surrounded by an assortment of pink stuffed animals. Those toys were Joseph's cherished treasures, but his owner held an irreplaceable place in his heart. After waiting for a bit, not wanting to disturb his owner's peaceful sleep, Joseph quietly lifted the white blanket and slipped out of bed.
The room was a soft blend of blue and white. The ceiling was a giant screen-during the day, it displayed intertwining white and blue lines, and at night, it transformed into a sea of stars. Joseph and his owner often climbed up to the attic of their little house to gaze at the night sky. The stars were vast and deep, and the cool night breeze would brush over their bodies. When the night air grew chilly, Joseph would snuggle up against his owner, feeling the warmth radiate from them like a cozy furnace.
In their home, there was a computer perched on a cloud-shaped desk, the surface made of soft, plush material. Whenever his owner wanted to work, they would hold Joseph close, sitting on a glowing moon-shaped chair, gently stroking his fur. As his owner watched the computer's shifting displays, lost in thought, Joseph would relax in their arms, enjoying the tender caresses.
His owner loved cosplay, often dressing up as different anime characters. So for Joseph, every day felt like anime had come to life. His owner would mimic the characters' voices, using a variety of playful tones to chat with him. Joseph also accompanied his owner to meet their friends, who all doted on him.
Joseph got out of bed and took a sip from his owner's water cup. He liked to lick it-there was something comforting about it. To Joseph, his owner was a pure little angel.
Joseph and his owner had spent 5 years together. From the moment Joseph was adopted, he had been by his owner's side, hardly ever apart. His owner had told him about the past-about how people once had to work hard just to survive. If Joseph had been born in those times, he might have perished like a blade of grass. If that had happened, he would have never met his beloved owner or his treasured stuffed animals. The very thought of being born in that era made Joseph shudder.
Now, Joseph had his owner and his cherished companions, allowing him to enjoy the freedom and happiness of this world. But if he had been born into an ordinary family in those times, he wouldn't have been able to learn anything. He would have been like a leaf blown by the winds of fate, powerless to resist. Born in a different time, Joseph would have faced a life of endless labor, hunger, and ignorance.
Thankfully, Joseph was born in New Era 1034. On January 1st, Year 1 of the New Era, at the stroke of midnight, nuclear fusion was successfully achieved. After that, Defi became widespread, world currency was unified, and wars ceased. Then, DAO technology slowly gained popularity, followed by the maturation of gene-editing technology. Both Joseph and his owner were created through genetic engineering, and Joseph had been adopted by his owner.
Every day, Joseph longed to be close to his owner. Now, as he got out of bed, he patiently waited. Today, his owner was taking him to meet friends.
