Chapter 15:

"Hey sorry for disurbing you Mr. Mandier. Yea they won't get in without knowing it's you that sent me here. Sure thing." He handed the phone to Sam.

"Yea."

"Hey Sam you guys can trust Mack. I sent him to pick you guys up."

"Okay. Danny its ok."

Danny nodded and they got in. They then drove to Keilter's house. Danny's eyes widened when he saw the size of Keilter's house.

"Holy-"

"Whoa."

They went in and Keilter came down. "Hello boys."

"Nice place." Danny said.

"Yeah. So while you guys are here you are going to have to help with the gardening, doing errands like buying groceries, getting the mail and so on. It's easy and won't strain your injuries."

Sam looked around. "Nice." He said.

"Yeah. Come on boys you can meet my house keeper slash cook."

Keilter led them to the kitchen where his house keeper slash cook was making lunch. "Boys this is Len. Len this is Sam and Danny. They will be here five days a week after school? Correct boys?"

"Right." Sam said.

"Okay now why don't we come to the office where you will be working."

"Office?" Danny asked.

"Yeah." Keilter said.

He then led the boys upstairs and opened a door on the right. He gestured for them to enter then followed them in and smiled at their surprise. The room had two black desks and on them had two laptops.

"This is where you will be working when your not doing errands."

"And what would we be doing in here?"

"Ordering stuff online, looking up stuff when needed. And on your own time, which you will have, anything you want."

"Sweet."

"Um...... How long are we going to work? I have another job to and my boss is a bit picky about when I arrive."

"Seven at night. Don't worry about your boss. I'll handle it when ever you work later."

"Okay."

"Why don't you just quit?"

"We need the money. My mom has a crappy job and doesn't get paid enough so I also work to help pay the bills."

Danny looked at Keilter, who was leaning on a desk. "How much are we getting paid?"

"A thousand a week."

"Wait seriously?" Sam asked.

"Yeah. And if you get promoted the amount goes up."

Danny's eyes widened before he looked at Sam. "You can quit with how much you'll make here."

"Uh i don't know. It sounds fishy. Ya know? I mean who makes that much for what we are going to do? Plus we are only working here to pay off Mr.Mandier." Sam said.

"Sam I promise you that there is nothing fishy about it. It's all legal. And you can continue working for me any way. And I'll pay you to help with your house holds. And please while you are working for me call me Keilter. I get enough of Mr. Mandier with Len and I do not want to put up with it with you boys either."

"Okay. I'll make you a deal. I'll quit my other job after a week of working for Mr.........Keilter. If it's all legal then I'll quit my other job. Until then I'll keep it."

"Okay Sam. Any thing you want kiddo."

Sam bit his lip at the nickname. "Um I don't know if this is a lot to ask but can you not call me kiddo?"

"Why not? Isn't it what Brian calls you?"

Sam's eyes filled with tears at that. "Yeah. Used to. Before he told me what he really thought about me. So I kinda don't like that nickname any more. It just reminds me what a lousy brother I was."

"Sam you weren't a lousy brother. Brian was."

"No...... I was........I.........when we were in Kansas something happened and.........I made us leave. My brother and mother loved Kansas but then I........Screwed up....."

"Sam........"

"No Danny it's true...... I screwed up so bad. It's my fault we had to leave."

"Before you get to work I'll be back." Keilter left.

Danny sighed before turning his attention back onto Sam. "Sam....... Whatever happened must have been bad... But I can help you get through it. Okay? I don't like seeing you like this."

"Okay. I'm sorry."

Danny took Sam's face into his hands. "You have no reason to be sorry Sam. You did nothing wrong. At all."

"Okay Dan."

Danny smiled and kissed Sam. Sam leaned him head on Danny's. "Thank you."

"Your welcome. Any time."

Danny smiled. Then kissed Sam's nose. Sam smiled.

"Finally. There's that smile."

Sam chuckled. Keilter then entered holding two shiny black objects in his hands. He smiled at them as Danny wrapped his arm around Sam. He kissed his head.
