It was the next day in the afternoon and Y/N was riding her horse Dexter to blackwater. She remembered to come over here to meet up with jack. She decided to get off her horse and hitch her horse close to where she was sitting. She sat on a bench close to the saloon waiting for him. She decided to wear a black corset with a white button up shirt underneath, with a long dark green dress. She had black boots on with her hair up in a small ponytail but pieces of her hair were sticking out because of the wind when she was riding on her horse. She looked around patiently waiting for him.
Jack made a small camp in the opening of the dessert. He had just woken up and he took the hat off his face and puts it back on his head. He checks the pocket watch and sees its the afternoon. "Shit.." He gets up and gets onto his horse and begins to ride to blackwater. He had a long way to go.
She was still waiting patiently for him to show up. She even walked in the saloon to see if he was in there waiting for her. But he was nowhere to be seen. 'Did he forget about me?' She thinks to herself. She asks for a shot of whiskey to the bartender and downs it down and makes her way back outside. She was starting to give up and wanted to leave and forget about it. Time skips by and he still isn't here. She sighs and unties her horses reins from the hitch and climbs on and begins to ride off. She leaves blackwater, but as soon as she did Jack finally shows up. He gets off his horse and hitches it close to the saloon. He walks in grabs a beer and walks over to the poker table and begins to play. Almost like he forgot about Y/N.
She was riding around watching the deer's run by, and birds flew over her head. She stops at a big rock and climbs off her horse she feeds her horse some carrots and oatmeal and sits down at the big rock and pulls her journal out and draws her horse eating the grass and the sun beaming down on them. She draws the cactus in the background and the mountains that touches the soft clouds. She writes on the next page,
Well I tried to meet up with Jack today. Never showed up. Thought he was waiting in the saloon. But no sign of him. It's alright, I'll probably see him again soon. Or not. But it's close to the weekend. I'll go to your grave soon pa. Love ya.
She puts her initials at the bottom of the paper and closes it. She looks up and sees the sky has changed to a beautiful sky. The clouds are in front of the sun, the sky has a tint of pink and blue. Almost looking like cotton candy. She turns her head to see a rainbow on her left. A soft smile appears onto her face. She knew it had to be her pa that did this. She gets up as a rain drop falls onto her journal she quickly puts her journal up, and climbs back onto her horse and rides back home.
She walks inside her house and makes her way to her room. She sits down at her desk and pulls a book out and begins to read. She looks at the rain pouring down outside from her window and a blue jay lands on a tree branch that was close to her house. She looks at it for awhile watching as it scratches underneath its wing. She quickly pulls her journal out and before she could look back at the blue jay. It was already gone. She sighs putting the journal back up and goes back to reading. After a couple of pages and chapters later she stops reading and puts it up. She looks back at the window as the rain has cleared so she opens her window to let some fresh rain air come into her room. She takes a deep breath and exhales and walks over to the kitchen. She grabs a bowl spoon and cooks up beef stew. She finishes cooking and puts the beef stew in the bowl. She grabs the bowl and puts it on the dining table with a cup of water on the side.
A couple days have passed and it is now the weekend. She walks out of her house grabs some flowers out of her garden, and puts them in her horse satchel. She climbs onto her horse and begins to ride her way to her pa grave. While she was heading over there she decided to ride into blackwater, and roam around a bit to see if Jack was walking on the sidewalks. But nothing. 'He must be busy somewhere else. ' She thinks to herself before riding out of blackwater. But as soon as she rides off once again, Jack was about to have a duel with a man. Jack obviously won. But Y/N stops her horse and looks back confused. "What the hell?" She says but shrugs her shoulders and continues to ride to her pa grave. It's pretty far distant but it's worth it. Looking at the sun beam down on the animals that are eating grass and running around in the long grass. Watching the rabbits running past the road. It was beautiful outside.
After a while she makes it to her pa grave and gets off her horse and grabs the flowers out of the horse satchel and picks up the old flowers and puts new ones on there. She kisses both her pointer and middle finger and presses them softly onto his grave. She gets up and walks to her horse slowly climbing onto her horse and begins to ride off slowly. She decided to go over to blackwater one more time and when she did. . . she saw him. Jack Marston. She gasp and quickly hitches her horse near the saloon and walks up to Jack and taps his shoulder. Jack turns around and looks at Y/N. "Oh hey Y/N. Haven't seen you in a while." Jack says placing his hand on his belt. " It's nice to see you again Jack." Y/N says with a soft smile on her face.
Jack looks at her. Almost admiring her. He looks at her up and down. "Why are you wearing all black?" He asked tilting his head. "O-oh. I went to my pa's grave earlier. I do that every weekend." She says. "Why don't we have a beer a talk about are week?" She says smiling and walking into the saloon. "Jack looks at her walking into the saloon, but can't help himself but stares at her hips as they sway back and forth. His face goes bright pink. But he shakes it off and walks in the saloon after her. He walks on the bar tender and calls him over. "Over here." Once the bartender makes his way over to Y/N and Jack, Jack asks for two beers. "O-Oh I can pay for my own." Y/N says. "Nah I think I should pay for yours today." Jack says with a soft smile on his face. 'I've never seen him smile before. He always looks so cranky all the time.' "What a gentlemen." She says putting her money away into her satchel and grabbing her beer. Jack grabbed his beer and paid the bartender. They both walk over to a table and Jack quickly puts his beer down on the table and pulls the chair out for Y/N. "O-oh well thank you kind sir." She says sitting down. Jack pushes her chair in for her and he sits down beside her. "So~, how was your week?" Y/N asked Jack. Jack takes a swig of his beer before replying. "Just the same as always, killing people, helping people, robbing, mainly what outlaws do." Jack says before taking another swig of his beer. Y/N looked shocked. But that's how her pa was raised. And she even saw him get into fights. Then one day. . . one of them fights was his last. Y/N snaps out of it when Jack called her name. "H-huh..oh I'm fine. Just thinking that's all. She says with a small nervous smile and takes a swig of her beer. She wasn't a fan of beer and she didn't like getting drunk but she would still drink a little to help her nervous and stress wash away. "So how was your week."Jack asked Y/N. "Oh..my week has been pretty boring, just at my house watching over the garden, writing in my journal and reading. It's been pretty peaceful though." She says taking another swig of her beer. Jack watches her drink her beer. He didn't know what he was feeling. All types of emotions were running through him. He never felt like this before. He looks away as she noticed he was watching her drink her beer. He clears his throat before looking back at her. "That's nice, I wish my weeks were like yours." He says taking one more swig of his beer and leaving the bottle on the table.
"How about we walk around for a bit?" Jack asked Y/N. She finishes her beer and sits up. "I would love that I really need some fresh air." She says smiling. They both walk out and begin to walk on the sidewalk still talking.
"So do you have a family?"
"I used to..a couple years ago. My mother died from unknown causes four months ago, my pa and uncle died 3 years ago." Jack says looking away. "O-oh I'm so sorry to hear that..." She says rubbing his arm. Her touch made me feel a little better, but I can't get over their deaths.
"So..What about your family?"
"Oh my ma and younger brothers live in saint denis. You already know about my father."
"But how did he die?"
"He was fighting someone in Rhodes and they pulled out a gun and shot him. I witnessed everything.." She says looking down. Jack stops and so does Y/N. "Why did we stop?" She says but before she could think Jack quickly hugged Y/N. He never hugged anyone. The last people he hugged was his parents. She looked shocked but she slowly wrapped her arms around him putting her face in his neck and softly cry in his neck. She hasn't hugged anyone in ages. It's like all her worries washed away. She felt safe in his arms. They both let go of each other and Y/N saw a single tear rolling down Jack's cheek. She wipes it away and smiles at him. "It's okay.." She says with a soft tone. "Thank you Y/N..." "Don't thank me I understand what you're going through." She says putting her hand on his cheek and caressing it. Jack had a small smile on his face and he could feel his cheeks heating up.
