Davinas pretty exterior was tainted by her attitude. Joffrey was tainted by well joffrey.

Joffrey was a complex man. He was also a simple man. He liked power. He liked control and like every man davina had encountered he needed validation and encouragement.

Davina wasn't going to be babysitting her husband for the rest of her life.

"Why don't you tell me what happened, and in a gentle, loving way, I'll explain to you why you're wrong." Davina assured.

"You know how, when you're sick, you're allowed to be cranky and say whatever you want and other people's feelings don't matter?" Joffrey countered

"Ooh. Gentle and loving-- this is gonna be tricky." Davina countered.

"I had a 101 fever." Joffrey corrected. "If that's not a time to verbally abuse my loved ones, when is?"

"I give up." Davina corrected heading off. "I can't deal with this. Not now, not ever."

" you are to be my wife aren't you going to take care of me?"

" you have a castle full of people to take care of you. I will never be that person."

"Why not?" Joffrey countered

" why did you call for me?" Davina asked.

" because I wanted you to suffer as I suffer."

" that's such a lie. Why did you summon me? I do not like being summoned. And you know it." Davina warned.

Because he wanted to see her. Because as much as he hated her, he also liked being around her. She was the only person to truly challenge him. To make him feel something.

then, when he got sick with something completely curable, she avoided him like the plague.

" I wanted to see you." he admitted, and it was very vulnerable of him to admit such a thing so of course she laughed.

" bullshit!"

" is that so hard to believe?" Joffrey countered.

" yes."

" well I did."

" that is shocking." Davina agreed.

" so are you going to stay?"

" and do what? Im not a maester."

"Tend to me in my time of need." Joffrey suggested.

" I'm not your wife and I'm not your mother." Davina corrected. " no one was there for me when I was struggling so if you expect me to be there for you when you have the sniffles, you are highly mistaken."

Joffrey realized there was a whole other life of davina Targaryen that he knew nothing about. When the castle was taken when she was held prisoner, just a child. She was so young and so afraid and she was all alone. The rest of her family massacred and he had made light of it not having done anything or been a part of that war. It was just a memory to him.  Not even a memory. A story.

But it was her life her trauma.  She was a dramatic and moody person, and she had a lot of trauma to back up her attitude.

Of course she didn't care to be with the king who had been spoiled from the day he was born  of course she didn't want to baby him and tend to him.

She Wanted to be the one that someone took care of of course she would never admit that because she was a bad ass fucker that didn't take shit from anyone. But looking at her, he thought he saw past her rough exterior. She thought maybe she really did wanna be seen to be taken care of to be treated like the princess that she was

But he also didn't know how to process human emotions so he sent her away   He spent the next hour staring at the ceiling Wishing he had told her he wanted her to stay.

"You alright honey?" Cersei asked. Joffrey scoffed her turning his cheek. "Oh no what did davina do?"

"Nothing. She's fine. She's perfectly fine. I just have a lot on my mind." Davina being the main thing on his mind. The only thing on his mind. The only thing he couldn't get off of his mind recently because she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on and for most of his life he hadnt looked twice at her because his mother told him not to.  But he wasnt a child. He didnt have to listen to his mother. To stay away from the beautiful princess locked away in a tower. But now davina consumed his mind.
