Abner sat serenely in the grand dining room, savoring his breakfast in solitude. The door slid open, and Mr. Bronte walked in, looking dashing in his white and black striped tracksuit and slippers.
His smart attire and agile demeanor belied his age, and his warm smile could light up the entire room. Abner couldn't help but chuckle as his dad made his way to his usual seat at the table.
"Dad, I'm sure you're coming from the gym," Abner said with a grin.
"Of course, my boy!" Mr. Bronte replied with a teasing glint in his eye.
"As a young man, I need to stay fit and active!"
Abner laughed. "Dad, come on! You're not getting any younger!"
Mr. Bronte feigned offense, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
"I'm not old, Abner! Your dad is still a spry and vigorous young man!"
Their laughter filled the room, creating a joyful atmosphere. Just then, the door slid open again, and three maids glided in, pushing trolleys laden with an array of delectable dishes.
Inyaka led the procession, expertly arranging the food on the already abundant table. The spread was fit for a king or even a community breakfast party! Abner's smiled brightly as he took in the sumptuous feast.
Mr. Bronte dug in with gusto, while Abner turned to Inyaka with a questioning glance.
"Where's Rena?" Abner asked anxiously. "Didn't she return last night?"
Inyaka replied, "She returned late and left early this morning."
Mr. Bronte looked up in surprise. "Do I have any idea where she went?"
Abner smiled mischievously. "No, Dad. Rena went on a date with Henry last night."
Mr. Bronte's eyes widened. "Henry? That's impossible! I've never seen them together, and I thought Rena had someone special in her life."
Abner chuckled. "You mean Klein? Dad, Klein is history! Rena has moved on, and Henry is her new beau.
Mr. Bronte looked disapproving. "You shouldn't force my princess into any relationship, Abner. Let her find her own Mr. Right."
"I'm not forcing her, Dad! Rena has already fallen for Henry, and he's perfect for her. I introduced them myself."
Just then, Abner's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and saw a message from Henry asking to meet up with him.
"Meet up? What's this about?"
Abner's curiosity was piqued.
"Why was Rena interviewed by reporters last night?"
He quickly unlocked his phone and searched online for any news about Rena's interview.
Fortunately he found it earlier than expected and scrolling through he was wide eyed with shock.
" What the fuck is wrong with Rena?!" Abner exclaimed, his face red with anger.
Mr. Bronte looked concerned. "Abner, are you okay?"
Abner composed himself quickly. "Yes, Dad. I need to go. See you later."
He hurriedly left the room, his mind racing with thoughts of Rena's thoughtless comment. Little did he know, this was only the beginning of a dramatic turn of events.
