Klein's expression transformed into a terrifying scowl, sending shivers down Allard's spine.
"Are you trying to deceive me, Allard?" he growled, his voice like ice, making Allard's heartbeat race and his palms sweat.
Aware of Klein's intellect, Allard knew he had already seen through his plan with Rena.
"N...no young master, i would never do that," he stammered, his fear palpable and this made Klein's anger erupted.
"You can't even cook!" he bellowed, slamming his hand on the desk, making Allard jump.
But then, realizing Klein's outburst was solely about cooking, Allard's fear subsided, replaced by relief that his master hadn't discovered his secret.
With a forced laugh, Allard replied,
"I learned how to cook months ago." His eyes darted around, and his laugh sounded awkward, but Klein seemed to buy it.
"Aha..." Klein said, his tone sending chills down Allard's spine, making him feel uneasy.
"Okay then, i'll be returning to the mansion tonight, make sure my dinner is readily available"
Just like that!?
"Okay young master!" Allard shrieked in delight smiling until his face was threatening to break and this made Klein gave him an angry glare.
"I never knew you've been dying inwardly to become a chef, your excitement is making me sense something fishy"
Hearing this Allard smile froze and his eyebrows jumped.
"No no young master, nothing is fishy" he shouted nervously but Klein payed less attention to his expression, afterall he only made a rare joke but Allard restlessness made him panic.
"I promise to feed you to the sharks in the sea if you prepare a bad meal tonight" Klein growled and turned towards his computer while Allard grinned widely suppressing his fear.
"Uh..." Allard grunt in surprise and walked closer to Klein's desk, with a look that would easily make one believe he saw a ghost on the desk.
Klein was captivated by the picture in the frame on his desk, which showed Rena holding his hand. Staring at it brought a smile to his face, a rare and unconscious gesture.
"Instant coffee!" Allard exclaimed in disbelief and stared at Klein in awe.
Klein's smile was nonchalant, and he seemed oblivious to Allard's presence in the office.
Allard was shocked to see a genuine smile on Klein's face for the first time, and the coffee on his desk, which Klein detested as much as he detested women and this made Allard want to scream and jump out of his skin.
"Young master, you're smiling!" He shouted, unable to contain his surprise.
Klein's smile froze, and he snapped out of his thoughts. He wore back his cold and terrifying expression, giving Allard a contemptuous look.
"I must have been seeing things," Allard thought to himself, "Young Master would never smile. Not in this lifetime, nor the next." He assured himself nervously, Klein's gaze steady on him, and his expression turned annoyed.
"What do you mean by that, you numbskull?" he asked, his voice laced with irritation.
Allard quickly dropped the thought of Klein smiling and focused on the present moment.
"Young Master, I apologize for the ignorance of the new maintenance and welfare manager. He's just a newbie who doesn't know how much you detest coffee. I'll get rid of it immediately," Allard said, picking up the coffee box and turning towards the door, but Klein's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on the coffee box.
