I bolted out of bed, adrenaline coursing through my body as I hastily packed my belongings. I left them by the door, knowing that Malcolm would take care of them. My face lit up as I walked out onto the balcony, the cool morning air hitting my face. The view was simply breathtaking. The rising sun painted the sky in vibrant shades of pink and orange, casting a warm glow over the boardwalk below. I could hear the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore, a soothing symphony that filled my soul.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to imprint this moment in my memory forever. Gratitude overwhelmed me as I thought about all that God had done in my life. I had been through so much, but here I was, standing on this beautiful balcony, surrounded by love and beauty. Just as I was finishing my thoughts, a knock on the door shattered the peaceful moment.

"Housekeeping!" a voice called out from the other side.

I heard Malcolm's voice in response, letting the housekeeper know that we were leaving soon.

"Let's go before they charge us another day," Malcolm joked, struggling to gather our things.

I laughed and playfully pushed him, grateful for his lightheartedness. We thanked the young housekeeper as we left the room, and I couldn't help but feel a connection with her. She seemed kind and hardworking, and I couldn't help but wonder about her story.

As we rode the elevators down, Malcolm turned to me with a mischievous grin.

"You know she didn't understand a word you said," he said, chuckling.

I rolled my eyes and playfully bumped into him, a smile spreading across my face.

"Yes, she did," I retorted, enjoying this playful banter with my partner.

The boardwalk was bustling with people, each person with their own story, their own journey. And as I looked at Malcolm, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this beautiful life we were building. One full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Down the hall we went, the sound of our footsteps echoing through the quiet corridors. As we entered the elevator, his hand never left mine, his touch providing the security I needed in this uncertain world. The doors opened, and we stepped out into the parking lot. I couldn't help but smile, feeling like I was in a dream. Hand in hand, we made our way to his car.

As per his usual routine, Malcolm graciously opened my car door and ensured that I was comfortably seated before taking his place behind the wheel. As I sat in the passenger seat, I idly played with the curls in my hair, until the sun's rays suddenly caught on my engagement ring, dazzling me.

A smile instantly spread across my face as I gazed in wonder at the exquisite 2-carat Princess cut channel ring, adorned with a 2-carat marquis setting on top.

I couldn't help but think that this ring must have cost Malcolm a fortune, as I admired its breathtaking beauty. To be completely honest, I didn't even pay much attention to the ring when he proposed, as I was caught up in the moment and the ring itself didn't matter.

As I settled into the luxurious leather seats of Malcolm's car, I couldn't help but marvel at the breathtaking ocean scenery that surrounded me. The gentle touch of the sea breeze against my skin and the tangy saltiness of the air filled my senses, making me feel alive. It was a moment of pure bliss before departing on this journey. But oh, what a year it had been.

A year of chaos, heartache, and unexpected twists. Last year at this time, I was desperately trying to save a broken marriage, only to find out that my husband had a whole other family. I lost myself in the process, but through the pain, I discovered my true self. I also learned that what I thought was love was nothing but a facade.
