Lost in my thoughts, I hadn't noticed that Malcolm had instructed the driver to take us to the home Malcolm had purchased as my wedding gift. As the SUV came to a stop, I turned to him in confusion.
"Why are we here?" I asked.
Malcolm's gaze met mine with unwavering assurance.
"This is our new home, where we will start our lives anew. We won't be returning to our old residences - not you, not me," he declared.
"I'll arrange for your piano and any other belongings you'd like from your previous residence to be brought here. As for myself, I have everything I need right here."
With a tender touch to my pregnant stomach, he gazed at me with love
I wanted to respond, to give in to the overwhelming desire that pulsed through my veins, but I was too busy battling my conflicting emotions toward Malcolm. I tried to hate him, but his charm was too powerful, too alluring, and I found myself failing miserably.
Just when I thought he couldn't possibly be any more romantic, he surprised me once again.
As I reached for the door, he halted my movements with a firm hand and whispered in my ear, "Now, my dear, I've indulged your little outburst for long enough. Please, sit down and allow me to open the door for you. And while I do, there's something else I simply must say."
His words were iron-clad, and I couldn't help but obey.
As I settled back into my seat, still trying to maintain a hint of my earlier attitude, Malcolm's rugged, and sexy abs, came into sharper focus. I was completely under his spell, and I couldn't resist him even if I wanted to. So I sat there, waiting eagerly for him to open the door and reveal what more he had to say, unable to tear my eyes away from his mesmerizing gaze.
My heart was caught up in my throat as Malcolm's voice filled the air. I could feel his warmth releasing off of him as he stood close to me, his touch leaving patches of heat as he touched me. His eyes locked onto mine, holding me captive as he sang the words that seemed to come straight from his heart.
The sweet melody of the song filled the room, wrapping around us like a warm embrace. I could almost taste the passion in his words and feel the intensity of his love for me. As he sang, he moved with such grace and fluidity, a natural performer who knew how to captivate an audience.
As the song came to an end, Malcolm's voice grew softer and more intimate. He took my hand in his and looked into my eyes, his gaze filled with so much love and sincerity. I closed my eyes and let myself get lost in the moment, in the sensation of his touch and the sound of his voice. And as the last notes of the song faded away, I opened my eyes to see Malcolm still looking at me, his expression a mix of hope and vulnerability. I couldn't resist any longer. I leaned in and pressed my lips to his, a surge of emotion overwhelming me as we shared our first kiss in almost 48 hours.
Just as we reached the steps of our house, Malcolm abruptly stopped, his expression turning serious.
"Baby," he said, his voice low and intense, "let's never go to bed with an issue unresolved, okay?"
I opened my mouth to respond, but he placed a gentle finger on my lips, silencing me.
"And I have something else to say," he continued, his gaze never leaving mine. "I'm so sorry for the way I touched you back at Sebastian's. It was insensitive and there's no excuse for it. I promise you, it'll never happen again."
My heart skipped a beat at his words, a mix of emotions churning inside me. But before I could gather my thoughts, he spoke again, his voice thick with emotion.
