They both got engaged when Meerab was a little too young she was in 12th and Usama recently joined business. They used to be like normal cousins, not too friendly cuz they were distant. One day Usama's family called Maa begum and asked for Meerab's proposal for Usama, she asked Meerab consent, Meerab said that she wants to continue studies right now but then her father Waqas said that right now it will only be engagement then after her university graduation her wedding will happen with Usama, then Meerab had no choice but to agree unwillingly, the engagement was done because of both families choice. The engagement was only done at home with just two families nothing extravagant.
The engagement happened before Murtasim went to USA. Murtasim heart broke a little when he got to know about the engagement, he saw that Meerab also looked unhappy, he decided to talk to her, he went to her room
Murtasim: Meerab, kya tum khush ho iss engagement se? he asked her softly
