Leora kept her hands clasped, glancing around the dark room for something. For anything! Listening carefully for any kind of knocking. But there was nothing. It was a piercing silence, yet Leora felt no fear from it, only disappointment.
"I should have known better to believe this rubbish, it's all a set-up lie," Leora hissed," The dead are dead, nothing more, nothing less."
She went to shut the book, hissing in pain as she cut her finger on the corner of the page; a few drops falling on the page on Kong Hun Jui. Leora had not noticed. She swiftly shoved her finger into her mouth, sucking at the blood with a miserable scowl.
"Just my luck..." She muttered, furiously; she grabbed the candle holder and got up.
She couldn't care less about the books anymore. Now that she knew it was all a load of rubbish, she felt little interest in the other world. It was all an elaborate lie. She went to the door, muttering a foul string of curses under her breath. There was a loud, clear and sharp knock. Leora froze, her fingers brushing the door handle. The noise had come from behind her. She spun around, her eyes wide. It was just a dark room.
Leora scoffed, turning back for the door," I'm just getting hopeful and being too sensitive to noises, clearly."
"You," A cold, unhappy voice uttered.
Leora spun around; sat at the chair she had been was someone who had not been there before. His hair was long and dark, tumbling down much lower than hers. He wore a hanfu, except his was a hue of ebony and purple, like the galaxy spun into a fabric. He wore long, slender black boots; bells attached and strung around by a string that was woven from the moon itself. His skin was cold and silky, like porcelain; elegant and fragile. His expression was stormy and furious, yet stifled by the dark room, casting off shadows on his face. It was him! She'd done it. She had summoned Kong Hun Jui.
He glared at Leora, his voice cold," You were supposed to forget."
He stood up and stormed over, the noise of those familiar bells chiming with each step, towering over her. Kong Hun glanced away, before sniffing the air, his nose twitching as he tried to place the scents. He turned back to Leora, his gaze piercing.
"This is your world, isn't it?" He reached out, his hand closing around her wrist," Why am I here?"
Leora shrugged, trying to hide her happiness at the fact her summoning had worked," I told you I wouldn't. I summoned you via a seance."
Kong Hun glanced around the unfamiliar, dark room in displeasure, before he tightened his grip on her wrist, pulling her closer.
"You think this is a game?" His voice was dangerously low, his golden eyes glowed menacingly," I am not a toy for you to summon at will."
Leora tilted her head," Hm? But I just did? It was quite an easy process too, an amateur could have done it-"
Kong Hun's jaw clenched. He released her wrist, his hands balling into fists at his sides. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
"I will find a way back. And when I do...you will not summon me again, and I will be sure to make you forget what you saw that night!"
Leora blinked, slowly, and cluelessly, before smiling.
"Then, I will just remember you again. And again."
Kong Hun let out an annoyed groan, glancing around the dark room in frustration, trying to calm his clearly racing mind. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. When he opened them, he looked back at the girl opposite him, coldly.
"I'm going back. No more chatting. No more nothing. I'm going!"
He clenched his fists, pulling a dramatic wincing expression, scrunching up his face and balling his fists to his side. He stayed like that for a while. Leora stared at him, puzzled.
"Uhm...what are you doing?" She muttered," You look...constipated..."
Kong Hun froze, opening one of his eyes. Upon the realisation that he was still in the dark room with the stubborn girl; he startled back like someone who had woken from a nightmare.
"Why am I still here!?" Kong Hun hissed, searching the room for answers.
He briskly snatched the candle holder off Leora, storming over to the table, his teeth clenched. His eyes widened upon seeing the blood splatter on the pages of the book. He slowly turned to her, his eyes wide and glassed over, like a true dead man's.
"Is this blood...yours?"
Leora frowned, thinking about it, she gasped.
"Oh, I must have accidentally gotten it on the page when I gave myself that damnable paper cut."
Kong Hun seemed to grow paler by the minute," And, when you summoned me...you didn't happen to have a wish, right...that you wanted me to do...?"
"Actually, I did," Leora frowned," That's why I summoned you."
Kong Hun took a few steps back, his eyes wide, before he let out a vicious growl.
"DAMNIT!" He roared, swiftly grabbing the book and slamming it down onto the floor in anger.
Leora raised her eyebrows watching, what seemed to be, a tantrum as he slammed the candle holder down onto the table. He paced about for a moment, running his hand through his hair; his eyebrows knitted in anger. After a moment of that, he seemed to remember Leora was still in the room with him. In sharp and unquenchable anger, he grabbed her by her shoulders and looked her in the eyes.
"Do you have any idea what your foolishness has cost me!?"
He turned pale, realising he was holding her.
"I can touch you in your world...that stupid, stupid blood of yours! Silly girl!"
He tugged away in anger, letting out another furious noise. Leora studied him a moment longer, before finding her voice.
"Calm down and explain to me the issue."
He let out a bitter, venomous laugh," The issue? The issue is you've trapped me here! You made, what we spirits call, a blood decree. Because you've sacrificed your own blood for this bond, I must complete your wish and then, only then, may I leave!"
Leora's eyes widened, her gaze stuck on his furious glare. He was trapped until he made her wish come true? This was perfect.
