Aahan
For a few moments, I lost my consciousness of the surroundings. While gazing into those brown eyes, my mind was convinced that I was being delusional. She can't be here. Soon she will be married off.
"Who fixed your face?" The jibe were convincing enough that she was very real.
"When did you become this attractive that even dogs are chasing you?" I couldn't help smirking.
Slowly her expression morphed into one of those wild cats which was about to attack. Damn, it's been almost a year since I last saw that glowy face.
"Since the fraudulent creatures stopped chasing me, the loyal ones began." She stomped her foot.
"But the only fraud I did was stealing your heart." I whined dramatically.
"Move!" She growled and was going past me in a hurry when I caught her hand.
"Leave my hand this instant."
"C'mon let's take you back to your ho- palace. You cannot trust this place right now." I checked the empty path behind me.
"But I can trust you? Who knows you might kidnap me for money." She mocked and tried to free her hand but her struggles were in vain.
I assessed her from head to toe. Black hoodie, black jeans, black shoes and black backpack. She was looking like a gorgeous thief blending in night. "I quiet like the idea and even thinking to charge extra for returning a runaway bride. But we should hurr-"
Abruptly, she paused her struggles and had a look of the deer caught in the headlights.
"You know I am- was marrying?" I ran a hand through my hair while avoiding her eyes at all cost.
"Stalker."
"Journalist." I defended myself and earned an eye roll.
"Keeping tabs on me won't generate money for you." She grilled.
"What nonsense!" I said distastefully.
"I didn't asked about your existe-"
"Oh, what do we have here!" A voice came from behind me. My eyes widened and fear entered in my mind. Fear for Anya might get hurt here. So, I had to tread carefully.
"And don't try to run, as the gun is fully loaded this time." The instructor warned.
"Uncle, he asked me to elope with him." Anya hurriedly said pointing towards me. My eyes must had imitated saucers.
"He ordered you around and you agreed? What a miracle! I did not get my hair grey under sunlight, baby ji." Said the instructor sweetly. I was looking at there faces back and forth in confusion.
"But you are bald." Anya said deadpanned and caused a laugh to escape my throat.
"You both are coming with me." He said while grinding his teeth.
"Kidnap me but I am not going back." She said with determination.
"Okay." The instructor said and laughed. I was looking for some opportunity to put up a fight to get us out and she's dragging us down to get killed.
"Anya, your 'uncle' is literally talking about kidnapping us." I clarified.
"Aahan, he's papa's one of the trusted men. Why would he do that?" She said as if I was being ridiculous.
"Because your father insulted me while what I was doing was just trying to earn extra. He even threatened to report me to the police. He didn't even remembered my years of loyalty towards him then." The instructor spat.
"He did pay for your loyalty by not firing you and still trusting you. In return, you still do your dirty work in his warehouse at this hour every other day." I said understanding the whole story.
"You do what?" Anya looked at him wildly.
"I am going to expose him." I said in hopes of reconciling with her. Life made us meet again. So, why let go of the opportunity to get her back?
"Shut up, Aahan! You lost your chance."
"Did I say that out loud?"
"Enough of you two! Boys get them both to our place."
Both of his burly tweedle dee and tweedle dum, from earlier, emerged from the alleyway behind him, as if they were there the whole time waiting for the command.
I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. The development of the events tonight and Anya's father being innocent in the case had made the night far more disappointing. Before I could think anything, my mouth got it's own legs. "When you ask for ransom, charge extra for returning a runaway bride."
Thunder roared loudly and it began raining. Both the instructor and Anya looked at me with widened eyes. The former with brightness in his eyes while the later with disgust.
