Aahan
Gradually opening my eyes, all my field of vision came across was white ceiling. Ah! A hospital room. As I rolled my eyes, Anya's alluring but tear stained face came into sight. "I would've killed you if you died." She threatened.
"I am ready to die twice, if you're the killer." I replied in a hoarse voice and winked, making her blush. "OW!" I groaned as she smacked my right arm. Upon inspecting, I found my right shoulder wrapped up in bandage.
"The bullet just hit your shoulder. I am glad everything is under control now." She said, putting a small plastic cup of water on my lips.
Abruptly, the door burst open. "Ahan, sleeping beauty is awake! I see." The water splattered out of my mouth. In came the root cause and end of our situation from last night, the drunk guy.
I looked at Anya and ran my left hand through my hair. "He said he won't leave until he makes sure that you are alright." She explained.
"Believe me, I wouldn't have left your side had the nurses didn't personally escort me out." He said like some injustice had occurred to him.
"So, what brings you back again?" I asked.
"I was trying to catch some sleep on the bench outside when this gentleman came and asked about you." The guy pointed at the door. Surprisingly, I found my senior standing there.
"How are you feeling now, Aahan?" Boss asked as he came in the room and stood beside me.
"Let's check how he is feeling." The drunk guy, who was not drunk anymore, came near me and poked at my wound slightly. "You idiot!" I shouted in pain.
"Well he is definitely in his senses but still needs a checkup. I going to call the doctor." Saying that he went out, leaving everybody dumbstruck.
"Strange man! Aahan, here is your promotion letter. It's amazing all those culprits are behind bars now. The police will hand you back your phone soon. So, do prep your face to report the scandal. On camera. Congratulations." Boss informed. For the first time in a while, a genuine smile appeared at Anya's face but the happy environment didn't last.
"Let me explain, uncle!" Anya's father were dragging a shouting Aman inside the room, holding his collar.
"Anya, I am ready to apologize to you and Aahan." Her father said.
"But what happened papa?" She asked, startled on witnessing the scene.
"Every traitor is after me nowadays." Her father glared at Aman and continued, "I went to grab coffee when I saw him visiting gynaecologist. That too with a girl. After inspection, I found out he was cheating on you!" He said that and slapped Aman.
"Aman! How can you do this to me?!" A girl came inside the room and slapped Aman on the other cheek. "Ohhh!" The chorus of ohs reverberated the room.
"This is the girl he was proposing at the restaurant, Aahan!" Anya exclaimed, widening her eyes.
"And the same girl he came here with." Said Anya's father.
"Enough! First of all, I love you and will make sure to make my apology to you worth it." Aman said looking at the girl and then turned towards Anya, "the wedding is cancelled." Saying that, he held the other girl's hand and went out of the room.
"Who are you to reject my daughter! Come here and see the guy I choose for her. He can take even a bullet for her. Learn something from Aahan! " Anya's father called after Aman.
"Doctor, look at them all stuffed in the room together." Announced the drunk guy while reentering.
"Please can you all wait outside? The patient needed to be checked." The doctor asked politely, entering the room.
Anya was the last one to leave. As she was closing the door, I gave her a wink. Her smile was the only thing I saw as the door closed.
