The soft knock on Ronald's office door barely registered as he pored over the papers strewn across his desk. Without looking up, he called out, "Come in."
The door creaked open, and Isabella stepped inside. Ronald's head snapped up, surprise flickering across his face before he schooled his features into a neutral expression. He nodded towards the chair in front of his desk. "Please, have a seat."
Isabella settled into the chair, her posture straight but relaxed. Ronald's fingers drummed lightly on the desk as he regarded her.
"So," he began, a hint of curiosity in his voice, "you've decided to stay longer with us."
A smile played on Isabella's lips. "Actually, I've found I quite like it here. I think a bit more time at Golden Sands wouldn't be a bad thing at all."
Ronald's eyes crinkled with amusement. "Is that so? And will you be staying as our guest, or...?" He left the question hanging, a teasing lilt in his voice.
Isabella rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Well, I'm not one for serving others, but I have to admit, I've grown rather fond of the dynamic with my team."
A knowing smile spread across Ronald's face. "I warned you on your first day, Isabella. Golden Sands has its own magic. Once you set foot here, you're cursed."
As he spoke, an image of Ethan flashed through Isabella's mind, bringing warmth to her cheeks. "I suppose I've decided to accept my fate, then," she replied, her voice soft but determined.
Ronald nodded, satisfaction evident in his expression. "Good. I'm glad to hear that." His gaze drifted back to the papers on his desk, and he sighed. "I'm sorry, Isabella, but I really must finish this. You know how it is with invoices and all that."
Isabella nodded, rising from her chair. But as she turned to leave, she hesitated. "Do you... would you like some help?"
Ronald looked up, surprise evident on his face. "Help? With the invoices?"
Isabella shrugged, a confident smile playing on her lips. "I am studying business management, after all. Maybe I could offer a fresh perspective?"
Ronald considered for a moment, then gestured for her to come around the desk. "Alright then, let's see what you've got."
Isabella moved to stand beside Ronald, her eyes scanning the documents spread before them. She pointed to a column of figures. "Have you considered reorganizing your cost centers? It looks like you could optimize your cash flow by restructuring some of these expenses."
Ronald's eyebrows shot up. "Go on," he encouraged, intrigued.
For the next hour, Isabella and Ronald pored over the hotel's financial documents. Isabella offered insights on everything from inventory management to pricing strategies, drawing on her academic knowledge and applying it to real-world scenarios.
"If we implement a dynamic pricing model for the off-season," Isabella explained, sketching out a quick graph, "we could potentially increase occupancy rates without sacrificing overall revenue."
Ronald leaned back in his chair, a mix of impressed and thoughtful. "You know, Isabella, you might have missed your calling. You've got quite a head for this."
Isabella beamed, a sense of accomplishment washing over her. "Thank you. It's one thing to learn these concepts in class, but seeing how they apply in a real business... it's fascinating."
As they wrapped up their impromptu strategy session, Ronald regarded Isabella with newfound respect. "I appreciate your help, Isabella."
Isabella's eyes lit up. " You're welcome, Uncle Ronald. "
