As she walked towards the restaurant where her interview would take place, Charli felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. She couldn't remember the last time she had been so nervous.

She took a deep breath and straightened her posture, trying to appear confident as she knocked on the door of the establishment. It was only then that she realized how much this opportunity meant for her. If they decided to hire her, it would be a chance to start a new life.

The door opened and a woman greeted her warmly. "Charli, right? I'm Maria, nice to meet you. Marco told me you were coming" She ushered her inside and led her towards an empty table near the window. "Please have a seat, I'll go get our manager."

Charli sat down, nervously fidgeting with her hands. She had rehearsed everything she was going to say during the interview over and over again in her head, but now that it was finally happening... everything seemed to be slipping away from her mind.

Maria came back a few minutes later accompanied by a man who must have been their manager. "Charli, this is Sebastian, he's going to ask you some questions and then we'll see if you fit in our team." She smiled at him before leaving them alone.

Sebastian was handsome; tall, dark hair and beautiful brown eyes that seemed to scrutinize her carefully as she sat across from him

Sebastian was handsome; tall, dark hair and beautiful brown eyes that seemed to scrutinize her carefully as she sat across from him. "So, Charli... Marco told me you have some experience working as a waitress back home? Can you tell me more about it?" He asked in a deep voice.

Charli tried hard not to stammer or fumble with her words. "Yes, sir... I worked at my parents' restaurant during the summer breaks when I wasn't studying. It was small place, mostly for locals so there wasn't much pressure but I learnt a lot about how things work in the hospitality industry." She forced herself to look straight into his eyes, trying her best to appear professional and confident despite feeling like she might pass out any moment now.

Sebastian nodded approvingly and continued asking questions about her previous job experience, what languages she spoke fluently, how long she planned on staying in Barcelona... All of which Charli managed to answer with ease thanks to the rehearsals she had done earlier.

After about half an hour, he finally said: "Well, you seem like a good candidate Charli. Why don't we give it a try? Are you free today? We need some help tonight. The rate is 12 euros per hour paid after work. If everything goes well, we could offer you a permanent position here."

Charli couldn't hide the excitement that flooded her face as she nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Of course! Thank you so much, I promise I won't disappoint you!" She said in a shaking voice but managed to keep calm enough not to sound too desperate.

Sebastian smiled at her kindly before standing up from his chair. "I'm sure you won't. Don't worry too much about tonight. Just be yourself and have fun. We'll give you the uniform when you come back later this afternoon."

He walked her towards the door, and as he said goodbye, he leaned down slightly to give her what seemed like a standard Spanish kiss on the cheek. But when he did it, his lips were just millimeters away from hers and he put his hand in her lower back very softly but clearly intentionally so that she could feel it.

"I think I'm gonna really love working with you tonight." He whispered before letting go of her.

Charli stood there for a moment after he left, feeling completely flustered by the sudden intimacy that had just happened between them. His hand on her back and the way his lips were so close to hers... It had been an accident, right? Or was it meant to be that way? She had never been in such a situation before and she didn't know what to do next.

Charli walked home feeling very mixed emotions: excitement about getting hired at last but also nervousness because of how Sebastian had behaved towards her during the interview.

She looked at the time on her phone - she still had plenty of hours left before her shift began. She decided to take some time alone to calm down and try not to overthink things too much.
