Chapter 28 - A New Ninja Academy

Kiyomi POV

"Thank you for traveling all the way here." Baki greeted me at the village gate, escorting me to the main building. "I apologize if we got off the wrong foot last time..."

"Not at all, I hope to build a stronger alliance with the Sand Village." I shook his hand. I will admit, I still have not completely forgiven him for almost killing Hayate, but he was trying to make amends. I smiled, seeing Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro as I entered the room.

Gaara nodded as a greeting and handed me a folder with the information about their ninja academy.

"We're planning to teach the kids how to use weapons of their choice first." Temari and Kankuro explained.

"You all would be wonderful instructors." I suggested.

"You want us to be instructors?" they turned to each other in shock.

"It's not a bad idea to mentor others." Baki agreed. "Shall we all get some rest?" he suggested, noticing my worn out appearance. My clothes were all tattered from the previous battles.

"You should get your injuries treated by Lady Chiyo." Temari offered.

"Is it really okay?" I asked, knowing that Chiyo was suspicious of newcomers.

"Follow me." Kankuro offered.

As we walked down the hallway, I saw a room with all of Kankuro's puppets, causing me to gasp in amazement. "So these are the puppets I've heard a lot about, they are quite impressive."

"I hardly show anyone these besides using them in battle." Kankuro admitted.

(next day)

"About what you said yesterday is it really alright for me to teach others?" Gaara approached me as we headed to the weapons storage.

"I don't see why not." I replied.

"Back in the Leaf Village that night when I attacked you..." Gaara began.

I took a seat, motioning for Gaara to join me. "I understand the pain you went through, you know. I basically raised Naruto and he suffered from being a jinchuriki as well."

"Even my own father treated me a weapon." Gaara explained.

"I'm sure Naruto probably told you already, but you are in charge of your own destiny." I explained. "It's true, jinchurki's were used as weapons, but you're on your person Gaara. You've been given a great gift to protect your friends with your strength."

"You're not afraid of Shukaku, even though everyone is?" Gaara asked.

"I don't see why not, he's a just a cute grumpy little guy." I laughed. "Now come on, we'll be late to set up for the academy"

"Seems to be a lot of students." I smiled, as we set up the table.

"It's all thanks to your help." Kankuro told me.

"Some of them seem excited to meet someone from the Leaf Village." Temari explained.

"Alright everyone, gather around!" I instructed the students. "My name is Kiyomi and I am here to help set up the ninja education system here" I explained.

"Will you be our teacher miss?" a young boy asked.

I shook my head. "Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro will be in charge of training everyone, so get ready to learn lots!" I explained.

"Everyone please choose a weapon and go to one of us for further training." Temari announced.

"D-Do we have to choose one?" a young girl spoke up timidly.
