Setting: A quiet corner of the staff room in a school where both teachers work. The air is thick with tension as Obanai sits at a table, carefully grading papers. Giyuu enters, his presence immediately noticed.
Giyuu: (noticing Obanai) "Good morning."
Obanai: (barely glancing up) "What do you want, Tomioka? I don't have time for your... whatever this is."
Giyuu: "Just thought I'd check on how you're doing. It looks like you're swamped."
Obanai: (snapping his gaze up, scowling) "I'm fine. Unlike you, I actually care about my students. You probably just sit there, staring out the window, thinking you're better than everyone."
Giyuu: (quietly, not taken aback) "That's not how I see it. I—"
Obanai: "Of course you don't. You're too busy being aloof. It must be nice to float through life without a care in the world."
Giyuu: "It's not like that. I—"
Obanai: (interrupting) "You think you're some kind of enigma? It's obvious you think you're above everyone else. Maybe that's why you don't have any friends."
Giyuu: (frowning slightly) "I don't need many friends. Quality over quantity."
Obanai: (scoffing) "Or maybe you just don't know how to connect with people. You hide behind that stoic facade, acting like you're better than us."
Giyuu: (calmly) "You're judging me without really knowing me, Obanai. Maybe if you gave me a chance, you'd see I'm not what you think."
Obanai: (gritting his teeth) "Why would I? You're pretty enough, but that doesn't mean I have to like you. I have enough pretentious people in my life."
Giyuu: (slightly surprised) "You think I'm pretty?"
Obanai: (turning red, trying to maintain his composure) "That's not the point! It's just... frustrating. You act like you're untouchable."
Giyuu: (softening his tone) "Maybe I seem that way because I'm trying to keep things simple. I don't want to complicate my life or anyone else's."
Obanai: (sighing, still defensive) "Simple isn't always good, you know. Sometimes, you have to let people in. It's not like I'm going to bite you."
Giyuu: (quietly) "I'm not afraid of you, Obanai. I just... find it hard to open up too."
Obanai: (eyeing Giyuu) "Is that supposed to make me feel sorry for you? Because it doesn't. If anything, it just makes you more annoying."
Giyuu: (slightly smiling) "I can deal with that. I'd rather be annoying than indifferent."
Obanai: (grumbling) "You're impossible, Tomioka."
Giyuu: "And you're stubborn, Obanai. Maybe that's something we can both work on."
Obanai: (pausing, unsure) "Maybe. But don't think this means I like you."
Giyuu: "That's fine. I'm not looking for your approval. Just trying to make conversation."
Obanai: (reluctantly softening) "Conversation? Is that what we're calling this? It's a battlefield, not a chat."
Giyuu: (chuckling softly) "Then consider it a truce. For now."
Obanai: (huffing but a hint of a smirk appearing) "Fine. But don't expect me to be nice."
Giyuu: "I wouldn't dream of it."
