Wintanceaster, Wessex

EAWYNN's recovery seemed to be miraculously fast. Although the stabbing pain in her side did make appearence a couple of times, she was able to go about her day in the castle, that had been buzzing with wedding preparations. Servants were running around swiftly, guests had began to arrive, and diverse ecclesiastics came to interrogate the girl concerning the marian apparition.

The latter was exhausted from it, and had escaped from it all for some days to visit Uhtred's children at the nunnery and the monastery. She had also, of course, sent Lasair to Coccham, to inform Uhtred of his children's whereabouts, and to develop a plan with Hild of his getting into Winchester, for multiple reasons. First, he wanted to see Thyra and do what needed to be done to assure Ragnar's passage to Valhalla from Nifelheim. Second, Eawynn was certain Uhtred should talk to the King before his passing, which would come any day now. It felt as if Alfred was only holding on to see the wedding done, to make sure his plan had succeeded. And of course, Uhtred had asked Hild to petition the King so he could take his children with him back to Flumenterra, where Eawynn would give him and his men land and title. Well, that was the plan.
